Hello! My name is Sierra and my boyfriend David is in his 3rd week of boot camp. We were planning on marrying but didn't want to mess anything up for him or us in the future, so we decided to wait. I have read all about how its hard to get married once hes left for boot camp and nearly impossible in some A school locations. I know for a fact that he will be at GL for his A school. and I know that some Aschools can last from 3weeks to 6months. I've heard about the chit and I wanna know how early is he allowed to put that chit in? does he have to wait for boot camp to be complete, When I spoke to him he said hes working on getting all the info but couldn't explain in detail for he only had a few minutes to speak to me. I don't mean to stress over the situation but not being able to speak to him makes me nervous. Does anyone have any info for me?

Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can plan for right now.  A LOT will depend on the specifics of his particular journey through school.  If he's on hold, how long his classes are, how fast he gets through the phases, etc.  He won't be able to find out a lot until he actually checks in to A School after graduation.  Even then, it will take some time to find out specifics.  I know it's frustrating, try to be patient.  He will have to be fairly proactive once he gets there, but the base he's on now (Recruit Training Command) and the A School Base are two different bases.  Next door to each other, but functionally separate.  His chain of command at RTC isn't going to be able to tell him what deal will be like when he gets to A School.  And his rate and schooling required for his rate will make a difference.  Good luck!

Thank you Jenn,

Whats his rate? he should know how long his A school is going to be. He should be able to get married in A school easily. If you post his rate some girls might know specifics about his school, some girls might even know specifics about GL. He will have to wait til he switches like Jenn said. A school and BC in GL are separate entities. Its pretty much all about timing. I got married in A school. Once he gets over there have him put the chit in asap.

Thank you, and he's an E-2. I forgot to ask how long A school was so. he is nonrated.

He is not allowed to request anything for marriage while in bootcamp. He also is not supposed to get married PIR weekend. I'm not 100% on this, but he may need to wait until reaching Phase 3 in A school to request it. I think it just depends on the rate and the location. You're looking at waiting another two months bare minimum, I would say. As mentioned above, if you list his rate on here other girls may be able to provide specifics!

Yes, I know about that not getting married PIR weekend, Just don't know about Aschool. and He is an E-2.

Thank you EmC I looked it up but it still seemed confusing, lol thank you for the clarification.
