We have a mission to "ZAP" some new energy into the "ZAPPERS"!

This group of sailors is in need of some serious tender loving care that only we could provide!  They are half way through a ten month deployment.

The "Zappers" are an airborne electronic attack squadron who fly and maintain the EA-18G Growlers, and are responsible for providing support for Navy, Marine, Army, Air Force and Coalition Forces.  This is one busy group and they are far from home.

The Zappers are based out of Whidbey Island, Washington and they are currently deployed with CVN75, Harry S. Truman, a Norfolk, Virginia based aircraft carrier, currently under the command of 5th Fleet.  We all know where 5th Fleet is so we know their living conditions.

There are many sailors in this group who don't receive any packages, cards or letters from home.  Some sailors have resorted to, "ordering stuff online or sending each other stuff in effort to keep the morale up".

As we prepare for the holiday season decorating, writing cards, baking cookies, let's BAKE A BATCH FOR THE ZAPPERS!

They would love to have a touch of home.  Homemade cookies, a hand written letter, a child's drawing...all of these will mean so much to this group.  The carrier isn't their real home and at times they feel like house guests who have overstayed their visit.  Let's make them feel welcomed and loved!

Here are the details;

Total sailors: 146, which is comprised of 125 males and 21 females.

Top Requested Items;

Food, (especially homemade treats, jerky and sunflower seeds)

Feminine Hygiene Products (21 females)

Pictures & Letters

Coffee and Creamer (I will ask if they have access to a coffee maker or if they are requesting single serve packets)

Deodorant, Lotion, Wipes, Tide Pods

They access to a fridge and microwave but no freezer. (so freezer pops are out)

They also have access to a DVD and CD player.

Pillowcases are a GO for the Zappers!

Let's make this adoption a wonderful way to transition to the new year

Shipping Dates  -

December 20th & 21st (or as close to that as possible)

 Thank you all in advance for your help with the December adoption!

I just wanted to express our deepest gratitude for your care packages. We are currently on board the USS Harry S. Truman, somewhere in the middle of the ocean (we don’t even know where, the view is all the same). We received your packages today (10JAN14). BELIEVE me, it is quite a blessing and a welcome surprise. It is hard to explain how much mail and real food means to us!

 As a confirmed Catholic, I always try to give back to the community as well as to confirmation classes. They greatly helped me, and I hope the future generations continue to benefit from them.

 Once again, thank you very VERY much. May God bless you as you have blessed us.

  Peace Be With You!

 Very Respectfully,

Just had to share because I thought this was cool.  I belong to the USS Truman's Facebook page and they posted this pic and clip today:

COOL!! Thanks for sharing!

Love it!

Thank you for posting the picture!

The "Zappers", dropping in to say "Hello!"

LOVE those smiles!!! Thanks for sharing, Laura!!

Dazzling!

Hello Friends, Veterans, and Troops,

It is with great regret and sadness that I inform you that the hard decision has been made to close Molly’s Adopt a Sailor (MAS) after 12 years of service to our active and veteran troops. Though this seems like a sad moment it is also a moment to reflect on all the good that has been done for over a decade.

With the Corona virus, issue at the post office, cost of shipping, lack of adoptions and lives evolving with age and moving now is the time.

Please as of  today please do not donate to MAS, please stop your amazon smiles, Igives, Facebook donations, United Way or any other way you are donating. (I also know this could take a few days, nothing happens overnight) We will remain a 501c3 until 2021 because nothing happens overnight (LOL)  We love you, and cannot thank you enough for always helping. This entire MAS would not have happened if not for you.
