Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 808 and 809

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

Hi Ladies!  My son is in the 809 division and hash't called yet but hopefully we will hear from him soon.  It sounds like he is very happy from his letters and has also mentioned the great guys that he has met in his division.

Listening to a UStream presentation shared at TheHenryFord  (Greenfield Village, The Henry Ford Museum)

On October 25, 2011, while on a humanitarian mission in Somalia, Buchanan and a male colleague were kidnapped at gunpoint and held for ransom by a band of Somali land pirates. For the next three months, she was terrorized, held outdoors in filthy conditions and kept on a starvation diet while her health steadily deteriorated. On January 25, 2012 Buchanan was rescued by SEAL Team Six.

The National Day of Courage commemorates Rosa Parks’ singular act of courage that helped sparked the modern Civil Rights movement. At Henry Ford Museum, home to the Rosa Parks Bus, the National Day of Courage is also an occasion to explore how her courage continues to resonate today.

After her presentation, Buchanan will led a youth panel and audience Q&A session. Immediately following, she will sign copies of her and husband Erik Landemalm’s memoir Impossible Odds, which details her kidnapping and his efforts to secure her rescue.

Any DIV 809 parents receiving the "I'm still alive" call yet?

We did get our call last night from my son in DIV 809....seemed pumped about military life and the guys in his division.  It sounds like they are getting more workout time so that makes him happy.  He reported they get about 5 hours of sleep per night.  If that's the case, I'm now sure I'm not cut out for the military!  Thank goodness he's enjoying it!

NO!   I haven't gotten a phone call yet either!!!  I did get one letter last week Friday - that's it!!

Just got a call!  They aced a test so they got an extra call...Said the quality of life is slowly improving and he got to RUN today!  So good to hear that boys voice.  Said everyone is doing well and seem to all be pulling together!

We also had a long call yesterday! My son is Div 808

My SR is Div 808 also and we received a wonderful phone call last evening. It was so great to hear his voice.

Great to hear.  We received our 2nd call yesterday from our son in 808 as well.  He's just picking up a cold.  It's been making its rounds in the division.   He sounds in good spirits.

I'm glad to read they got a run in very recently.  It sounds as if their PT is limited for aerobics fitness and he's a runner, so that's good news.

For a older young man who would go weeks and weeks without us hearing from him, he seems to be treasuring those daily (mostly) letters!   I also send one yesterday for any SR that was not yet receiving mail.  Glad to do it, so grateful!   ~  EoftheT

Hi All,

I know this is a question waaaay in the future, but here goes:  Does anybody know if the sailors get any "leave" during their training in Coronado?  My oldest son is getting married in October and wants his brother to be his best man.

My son is also in the 808 division! He sounds great. Cannot wait to see him.

Hi Gail and Shannon...My SR is also Ship 4, Div 808.  Looking forward to meeting everyone at Sarge's Meet and Greet!
