Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 111 and 112

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi newy here my SR is in division 112 !!!

I received a letter yesterday. 111 is ITing every day according to him. He is the first one to leave his locker unlocked & got IT'd for that. He said they get dressed up so warm that he is sometimes too warm. He sounded in good spirits but he always has a good sense of humor.
My son is on ship 13 USS Marvin Shields division 112. Hope all the recruits are doing good and adjusting to a new way of life. Quite an eye opener for my kid. Kudos to them all

hi!!! my SR is in the same division!!! :)

The RTC has not yet confirmed the divisions for this group, but from the form letters received and PIR dates given here on this site, it appears there are nine divisions.

Confirmation of the previous TG, and postings from the next TG, this TG has divisions 111-118, and division 919, the next TG starts with division 119, so it should be safe to assume four guests.

Hello All,

My SR is on Ship 13/Div 112.  We received our 1st letter last Wednesday (2/5/14).  He seems to be doing well and acclimating to the environment.  He called us on Saturday (2/1/14) early in the morning and again on Saturday (2/8/14) late in the evening.  Both calls were VERY brief.  On 2/8/14 he said that it was academic study time and that he had a test in the next day or so.  The 2nd phone call he seemed more "business like" than the 1st phone call.  I suppose the transformation is happening!  ;-)

We went ahead and purchased our airfare and reserved a hotel room.  I wanted to take advantage of the lower prices but added the "changeable" ticket fees in the event that the graduation data changed.  We are staying at the Residence Inn (Marriott) in Waukegan.  I picked this hotel because it was only 4 miles away (per Google maps).

My son is 19 years old, from Half Moon Bay CA, and really wanted to serve via the Navy.  He is excited to be there and we support him 100%.  I have been burning a navy blue candle each night in his honor.  I read, somewhere, that military mothers and wives do this as a show of unity and to send good vibes to their sons/husbands.  The candle makes me feel closer to him and I feel like I am doing "something" while I wait to see him.

I am so glad that I found Navy Moms.  It has really helped me transition to life minus one son.

Kindest regards, Sandy

Hi Sandy,  I look forward to meeting you!  My son is also 19 and from South County, RI.  Mine was so homesick at first.  There are a lot of changes going on back here that we haven't spoken to him about because there never seems to be a "good time" to tell someone that their pet has died.  So sad.  He knew he wasn't doing well before he left but he doesn't know that we had to put him out of his suffering.  My other son is also moving to another part of the country.  Lots of upheaval. Can't wait to see my youngest to see his bright smile and get his strong hugs!  Where are you and your family staying?  Also, my SR's girlfriend wants to come along and we barely know her.  We are comfortable including anyone our kids love but it adds a note of discomfort for the poor young lady!   Any suggestions?

Sandy, I just reread your post and saw that you'd gotten reservations at the Residence Inn.  I am looking at that!  Thanks for posting that and sorry for MY confusion!

Heather, What a strange coincidence!  Our pet recently passed away as well.  She also was not doing well when my SR left and I know he would not be surprised by the news and would handle it well, but I have decided to wait to tell him.  I won't lie if he asks, but don't want him to be distracted in any way from what he is doing.  It is so sad!  Sounds like you have a lot going on!  Hang in there!!!

Hi Heather,

My SR's dog is 13 years old and failing.  I dread the day I have to make that call.  I feel for you.

We are staying at the Residence Inn (Marriott) in Waukegan.  Per Google maps, it is only 4 miles away from the training command center.  As far as the girlfriend, I'd let her come and welcome her into the fold.  If she is serious about your son, who is soon to be a US Sailor, she'll have to get used to being flexible.  ;-)

Cheerio,

Sandy

Hi Sandy,

It sounds like we are on the same trek.  My SR is DIV 112 and we also will be staying at the Residence Inn...maybe we'll run into each other!

I'm so grateful I found N4Moms.  It has been so helpful and comforting to be with others that are going through the same things that I am.

Best wishes to you and yours!

Hi!  It is nice to cyber-meet you!

Cheerio,

Sandy
