So, my husband starts BC next month then heads to Pensacola for A-school. After A school I plan on moving to wherever his PCS orders are. My family is convinced that he will be sent to a ship right away and question my decision to go ahead and move to wherever our duty station is. Their argument is that I would be alone and have to do alot of stuff by myself and that I would not know "anyone". I am actually excited to move to a new place and get established in the place we will call home for the next few years. My family thinks I should stay with my current job while he is possibly "out on deployment". Any advice regarding this?

I am from Oklahoma, but I have been here all my life, and ready for some new sights! I think we have decided that deployment right off the bat or not, I will still go to where his PCS is and get a place to live and look for a job so everything is settled when he returns. Since I am a teacher I want to try and get a new job lined up before the next schoo year starts. I can understand your situation because you were working on school stuff too! Ha. We currently have an apartment and since hy husband leaves next month for BC we used the military clause to get out of it, so that means I am moving in with the in laws for the next few months until he gets through BC and and A school to get his orders. But at least we get to save a lot of money that way to have a cushion in case I don't find a job right away.

I am hoping my family can understand that. I think it is mainly my dad just wanting to keep me around longer ;)

I understand. I was in OK from the age of 2 until I moved at 21. We first moved to WA state which I hated living there. lol I mean its gorgeous, just not my cup of tea! Now we live in Virginia. Which I actually really like a lot. there are a few things about the state that make me cringe. (Like if you think the weather men in OK suck... wait until you see the guys here. There was a tornado that hit down and they didn't mention it until 30 minutes later. They didn't even know it was forming. lol that bad.)

I totally understand wanting to get set up. I stayed with my friends in OK for three months during a deployment for some medical test I was having done and to save some money before a move. I enjoyed being home and being with my family, but man it sucked not having my own space. But like you said, it helps you save a lot of money! Especially with you having a job and his expenses being paid for pretty much lol!

Its really hard for them sometimes. They don't want us to move and then they don't want us to be alone, or something bad happen and not be able to do anything. My family handled it pretty well since My Dad was Army and my mom moved with him at 18 to California. His parents, well his Mom was actually worse about it. And still is. We bought a house in VA last year and she about flipped on us.

What part of OK are you from?
