In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 808 and 809
Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).
sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.
Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.
Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.
We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

As I scroll back through the pages of this discussion, I am seeing lots of posts by DIV 808 family members. I am happy DIV 808 moms are finding each other. My son is in 809....not sure how much contact he might have with 808 recruits...same ship, but different division....guess my heart is looking for someone else whose son might know mine! so.......where are my 809'rs????? :)

I am on the same page about not hearing much about DIV 809 and my son told me that DIV 808 is given, let's say "grace" than 809's division is but not sure why. We did get a 10 minute call from him on the 5th and his spirits seemed good. He did reiterate several times how much he loved the guys in his division....that they were all so motivated/like minded and have already come together as a team. Although they have to get up early, his favorite time was dive mode??? something like that. The food was good and he tried to eat a lot because I guess his 809 division wasn't given that 4th meal??? Hopefully it was for just a short time and I've heard it's only a protein bar or something small anyway. He did say that he was sorry for not writing us (although his girlfriend has received 2 letter already from him) but the 809 div can only write on one day and are not given much free time. It was so good to hear his voice and we were reassured that he is exactly where God wants him. His last statement though had to do with the importance of letters. He said we have no idea how important they are and to ask anyone who wants to write him. So we try to have at least one every few days go out to him. I have even pulled pics from his facebook friends/family/fraternity/college/etc and scanned them ...just so he has a little bit of home there.

Your comment about all of them being motivated and like-minded brings a smile to my face. My oldest son (in DIV 809) is very intense and strong-willed...he was the kind of kid whose attitude we always said we'd appreciate when he was older. :) Well, of course, now we do appreciate it because it has brought him to serve in the U.S. Navy. I always had been thankful both of our sons have different personalities....having two head-strong boys would have been much more difficult parenting!....I am now imagining 92 of them living together! :) That would make life interesting, wouldn't it? Seriously though, when they are working together as a team, it must be an amazing group! My son said the guys were awesome! Thanks for your reply, deb13.

Grandma nana, We received the "I'm still alive" call exactly at 3 weeks, too, on Feb. 5. Then, we didn't hear from him for quite a while until we got a letter on 2/13. He said that he didn't get to write the week before because he was on watch during letter writing time. Maybe there was a similar situation for your son, too. I'm sure you'll get a letter soon! Good to connect with you!
