For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

- Tuttismimi, I know it seems dumb but that's one of my biggest worries for my son... the cold! He's SO not used to it where we live, it's definitely going to be one of the biggest changes/shocks for him.

He should do fine. Sometimes those that don't have the snow and cold all the time are excited about the change. I have read that they have nice warm clothes and it should be warming up as they go along. Where will he be going for A school? My daughter is going to Pensacola which will be a welcome change for her. Can't wait to go down for a visit....

He'll be going to corpsman school in San Antonio, I hear it's nice there. I'd like to go there for a visit too... wouldn't he love that, Mom "vacationing"all over the country wherever he happens to be! LOL :)

I heard San Antonio is very nice. So many places these kids will be going. At least we can use that as an excuse for a vacation!! At least if we see them for a day and then see all the sites. At least with the A school we will need to ship or drop things off for them.

How are things going with you guys having your future sailors leave really soon? I can't believe it, I myself am leaving March 4th for boot camp and I'm stressing out! I leave my little ones and my hubby, but I am ready to start a new chapter in my life!! Are they ready, studied the START Guide and working out physically? I have been struggling with the working out part...which my working out to pass in boot camp is ALOT lower than most b/c I am older but I am trying so I can keep up with the younger sailors!!

You know it has it's ups and downs. So excited because she is so excited but it will be really weird without her around. I have a daughter that lives out of state and ?I probably see her as much as I will be seeing my sailor and I am doing ok with that, so it should be ok. Just always worry about them. Your kids will be sending you cute little pictures at bootcamp. How old are they? I thought I read it somewhere but forget. You will make them very proud. I am sure it will be hard for you but you will be busy and it will fly by. Just look how quickly BC came! How are you holding up? My daughter works out but not everyday. Studying is coming along but she has more to go.have you memorized yours? As for your being a bit older and working out I think your being a bit mature and driven will get you where you need to be

Hello! Well my working out isn't going as well as I think it should if I didn't have kids...lol I run the 1.5 every other day and I do pushups and situps whenever I can. Right now I'm feeling a little down b/c my times are so high but yet I am struggling just to meet the minimum times on those things. The run and the pushups are awful for me! lol As far as the studying...I know my general orders, creed and mission of the Navy. I don't really know rank and rec as well as I should. I was told by my recruiter to study those when I can and to not worry about the chain of command until I get there. I am so NERVOUS and scared, anxious and well just full of emotions...lol
Where is your daughters A school and her rate? Not sure if I seen that. My sons are 6 and 1 and half!

Your times will get better once your time is strictly for that. Right now you are busy taking care of three others. You will do great! My daughter is going to Pensacola for A school. Doing something with electronic repair I believe. Not sure of the rate yet. She's very independent and just tells you what she wants when you ask. Perhaps you two will be together at BC. That would be great! Just do what you have time for and enjoy the kids before you leave.

Hello,
Is your son going in as an e-1 or higher? If he's going in as an e-1 then he would need to pass his first PFA to rank up to an e-2, from what my recruiter has told me. He says that the most important physical test is the 3rd one as we will be tested 3 times while we are in there. He said they don't expect us to arrive to RTC and be able to do everything when we first get there. Good luck to your son, I leave on the 4th!

Anyone else struggling this week? My son leaving for MEPS two weeks from today. Last week I was in happy denial. This week I keep crying. I'm sure that it will be worse next week. Trying to get all the last minute stuff together. I can't believe it's this close. I'm really struggling.

Stephanie Pete's mom, I am right there with you. Seem like last week I was more in denial as well until it hit day 13 and I knew it was less than two weeks. Also we are having a family get together the day before she leaves and a family member said see you next weekend and my heart stopped. Next weekend!! Too early. I just can't talk too much about it. I try to just keep smiling but then I am bottling it up for when she goes or the party. Trying my best to stay strong. I just keep on telling her how proud I am of her. I feel like there is more to do, but I think she is ready. Nothing really to pack, has her ss card, license, wallet, immunization sheet turned in, so I think we are good. Am I missing something?? Do you know when he goes to the recruiter yet?? I don't. Are you still going to MEPS? Are you meeting you daughter after for some birthday cake?.
