Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 808 and 809
Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).
sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.
Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.
Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.
We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there ladies!!!

DIV 809 MOMS BE BY YOUR PHONES!!!! THEY GET A REWARD CALL TONIGHT. MY SON JUST CALLED!
I just had an entire 30 minute phone call from my baby boy! He is doing so good and what a positive attitude!
Just got a call tonight! Div 808. So great to hear his voice and notice that things seem to be settling in. They are working on fire fighting this week. Gas exposure next week. There was a note of excitement in his voice that the end is in sight.
There is illness, still, going around. And there is some pinkeye, tho' he has escaped it so far.
Re these two divisions, he already has questions about getting around, what is permitted for pre-Buds training. He's feeling confident about this. I'll be headed over there to see what I can find out for March - April training and what they have access to, how they get around from one place to another. Can they have a vehicle?
Less than 3 weeks, Hooyah. It will be SO great to be there soon! I'm keeping those cards and letters coming. It does really help.
Good Sunday morning to everyone! Can you believe it's less than two weeks 'til PIR? I am so excited to see my SR and to meet everyone! Let's hear a big "Hooyah!!!!!" Have a great day!
Hooyah! I also posted a list of restaurants in the area based on reviews from Yelp.

Also, does anyone know the details about what happens after PIR, their pre-Buds A school? What group they'll be in? If having a car (must be kept off base) is a good idea or not? Also, just what starts happening in those first few weeks, other than the training ramping up a bit to prepare for Buds, and perhaps a tad less regimentation as in BC.
I tried to get some of this info from the pre-Buds group, and haven't been able to find very much, perhaps due to OPSEC and PERSEC. These are pretty basic questions, I think, just from a mom, new sailor 800-809 perspective.
One more thing, I ordered a medal, it came very quickly, and love the look of it. I think it will be a lovely gift for our graduating PIR sailor.
Ordered a medal? Where did you find it?
Hoping I will get to meet some of the Ship 04, USS Arleigh Burke 808 Moms, whose sons graduate March 13, 2014. My husband and I are coming from Dallas and plan to attend Sarge's meet and greet on Thursday night. I can hardly wait!! I am hoping that we can connect somehow that night.
Debby have you joined the facebook page for Division 808/809? Lot's of good info and really nice supportive families...
I will be attending Sarge's meet and greet on Thursday too! Where are you staying? We are at the Navy Lodge...here
is the link to the FB page you have to ask permission to join but they get right back to you.https://www.facebook.com/groups/navyspecialops/
Thanks so much for the facebook information. Cool! We are staying at the Ramada. i guess that is Where Sarges Meet and Greet is being held. I bet our sons know each other. My son has said he has made some good buddies and I know that helps them get through this. I am busy planning out what we are planning to do as not to waste a single minute. He said we wants a big steak, and either Mexican Food (we are from Texas) or possible deep dish pizza (more of a possibility). I hope that I can to meet you.
Question: In our last conversation, my son mentioned that all the 808/809 guys were all entering the same training program as he is....so is it safe to assume that everyone in those divisions is staying at GL for A school? ....and will they be mixed up? ...or will he stay with the same guys from his division? ...or will 808/809 be put together? just wondering if anyone knows.....
@ Debby - we are planning to attend the Meet and Greet...my son is 809. Depending on the answer to my questions above, our sons may be together at some point? At least for now, they have the same ship number! I am not on a Navy fb page....my email account for Facebook is set up with my last name (I don't want anyone to make a connection to my SR) so I just use N4M's (and the official RTC site) as my online sources for Navy info.
P.S. I might be just a little paranoid...but I'd rather be safe than sorry! :)
I have the same question, and I'm having a bit of a challenge figuring out what will happen in the transition from PIR to A-School/Pre-Buds.
I've posted similar questions elsewhere, with OPSEC, PERSEC in mind.
