Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 139 and 140

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

HEY CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW THEY ARE GETTING HURT. SAFARI DID YOUR SON say. My friend is up there and he hurt his knee. He joined Feb. 12 TOO. I don't understand how this is happening.

Thank you, it just worries me he is probably one of the oldest there. I understand why he decided to go but I still don't like it. He was in ok shape but I dont think to jump right in doing all that they do.. it's just so hard to think positive. But I don't dare have negative thoughts to him in my letter. I keep telling him he can. And swimming that makes me so nervous. He doesn't know how and I tried for months to show him. and he never got it.. I'm just worried.

My son said they were finishing up a IT session and they were doing squats.  Somehow he pulled or strained a thigh muscle.  He did two rounds of physical therapy and the doctor cleared him.  He can walk and march and do regular PT but his first IT after getting off crutches he had to quit.  He said during IT, they work different parts of the body and doing leg exercises still hurt him.  He said you can only fail three ITs and this was his second one.  Now I'm worried about him!  What happens if he can't do the ITs?  Does he come home or will they move him back?  I wish someone could tell me.  And if he got moved back, what happens with his school?  He's set to start that right after graduation.

It don't know what happen when I got a phone call from my friend yesterday he said he was afraid he wouldn't get to finish with his division because he is so far behind. I asked him about his knee he said he didn't want to talk about it over the phone that he wrote me a letter telling me about it. I'm worried and I really don't know what's going to happen.

Letter from my boy...yeah! After he called last Saturday, March 1,14, they marched back to the ship. It was snowing and cold but beautiful. My son, has listened well to his father about public health. My son wrote " many are sick, what do you expect when there are 76 guys from different parts of the country living together?" They are being exposed to different germs and the their best defense is washing their often.
He had a couple of fun stories to tell,then ended with" I'm exhausted . Love you and good night".

CatMomma (S09 D139) I like your flyer idea. I sent my son's address via email to the family...not toocreative there, but what has worked nicely is
I carry a card with me and when I see a family member I have them write in it. We have a big family and we get together often so every weekend I collect signature and send it off. The little ones draw pictures for their Uncle.It is sweet.

That's nice that you see your family members often.  Our families are spread in all different states.  However, my sister and her little daughter just arrived from out of state today.  I'll see if she will draw a picture for her big cousin today.  Good idea.

I got a phone call, I'm happy but worried for him at the same.time

My son called this afternoon.  He sounded tons better than his first phone call!  He said it was warm there and they made them put their ski masks and gloves away.  He also said it really wasn't bad there (which is a BIG turnaround from his first letter!).  He said that some people don't get it; the instructors really aren't that bad, in fact they are pretty decent, as long as you don't mess up.  But yesterday his division (139) had to do IT and everyone was mad.

I got another phone call yesterday, it was so good to hear his voice!!!  When I saw area code 847 I about flew out of my seat, I wasn't expecting a call from him again for a couple more weeks. He had his wisdom teeth pulled Wednesday and he had some complications so please pray for him. He's still very sore and swollen. He has his post-op visit today I believe he said. He loved getting to shoot his fire arm and said he did very well. He said that today is 2-5 and tomorrow is 3-1. They are quite a bit behind the other DIV that are graduating on 4/11 but they are not going to move their graduation date...they just have a LOT of catching up to do since P days took so long.  He said he got IT'd because of a clerical error he made doing his job as Yeoman, the workout was so hard and he was exhausted! The stress of the job almost made him quit so his wisdom teeth pulling came at a good time, it gave him a few days mental and physical rest that he has been needing so badly. He has to get up earlier and go to bed later than everyone in order to be prepared for work the next day, he is averaging 4 hours of sleep a night. He started a bible study group with some of the Recruits in his group that were interested, they are studying the book of Romans, this makes me so proud of our SR's. He said that at church 150 kids went forward last week to either accept Christ as their Savior or to rededicate their life to follow Christ and this week about 80 kids came forward. Praise the Lord!!!  I'm so thankful that they can find rest, comfort, and hope in Jesus. For ALL the days of their lives from here on out!!!

Sherry, my son is on ship 09 div 140 and I was reading your post about your sons wisdom teeth. First of all I hope he is much better now and my son has his removed this past Monday. I have no clue on how it went or how well he recovered. But I do agree with no news is good news. You also mentioned your son has recently joined a bible study. My son joined one the first week, he said there was 15 SR in this group and how wonderful it is. This bible study is what got him through the first couple of weeks. He actually now said he enjoys boot camp, yes it's hard but he has a wonderful brotherhood he calls his family. From the sounds of it they do have a great div. and how blessed is that.

My son told me yesterday that his bunk mate is also going in to IS. It's been killing me to know if our kids are hanging out together. My son started a bible study with a few others yesterday, if anyone talks about it let me know and we will know our sons have connected as we have. :)

Question: Is anyone elses Replies out of date order? Can this be fixed? Also, can we start our own chat room without having to reply via comments and wait to get a response?
