2013 U.S. Nuke Electric Power Generation Decline

A while back there was a robust discussion within Nuke Moms Group of trends in nuclear electric power generation and resulting opportunities for Nukes after the Navy.

While nuclear power generation in Communist China and India is growing rapidly, the picture in the U.S. is very different. Aging plants are shutting down and replacement plants are not being built.

The below link provides a concise, yet comprehensive discussion, with graph.

I heard today that Utah, Green River is trying to build a power plant.

Yes Utah has been trying for a couple years, have gotten past a few hurdles but still have a long way to go. S.C, Georgia, and Tenn. are all in the process of building new ones. They should be finished right around same time  our kids 1st contract is up. :]

My hubby works at a power plant now, his boss just told him to read article by forbes Obamas Climate Change goals hurt by shutting down working nuke plants. Its online and good read. The trend right now is Natural Gas, but with all the trouble I'm reading about fracking I don't know why this is so popular. My hubbys company he works for closed a plant up in Wisconsin. Pretty much to cash in on some $ before it disappears. Doesn't make sense for the good of the country but we are talking about companies nowadays that only care about their stocks. Which I might add his is at an all time high. It is stupid in my opinion to close down plants that are paid for, have been issued a license to go another 20 years and helps you stay green. But what do I know.

Hubby told me about another recent artice in the chicagobusiness.com Exelon warns state it may close 3 Nuke plants. Exelon is the largest utility owning Nuke plants. It just can't compete with wind, and natrual gas and all their subsidies. Interesting comments after article. Nuke power won't last without government kickbacks or whatever you want to call them. Going to see this more and more unless something is done.
