My son left for Bootcamp on March 5th 2014, originally was scheduled for March 4th, but we had a winter storm that day. I received the "box" 2 days ago, but I haven't received any kind of letters from The Navy on the PIR dates or any other kind of dates. I'm just anxious to make my arrangements to go out there I guess. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

gemmgi2, My daughter left the day before. I have the box but no form letter yet. I know some people call their recruiter, but I am just waiting for the letter. I believe we should be getting them this week. Some people have. If you don't by the middle of next week, then I think I would call the recruiter. Atleast that is my game plan. I believe they say about 10- 14 days for the form letter. Hang in there.....
My son was scheduled to leave for BC on Aug 19th, but told his recruiter that he wanted to leave sooner if possible.
On March 4th he was called in to his recruiter's office and asked if he still wanted to leave early. Son said "YES!" so he spent that day with his recruiter, came home in the evening and left the next day for recruiter/MEPS. He flew out on the 6th and we got the "I made it call" very late on the 6th. He sounded a bit tired and rushed, but only part of the call was scripted. He did get to talk to me conversationally a tiny bit... his cell phone battery was dead, so he was borrowing someone's and had to pass it off to another SR. Thanks to whomever let him borrow the cell!!!
His box arrived on the 12th (yesterday).
I went from thinking we had 5-6 months to get ready for him to leave to having less than 24 hrs. It was a whirlwind.
I'm still waiting on the form letter.
Wow... Gelly, and I thought 5 days notice was short. Our son was suppose to leave in June and his recruiter called the last week of Feb. and said to meet with him on March 3rd and they would travel to MEPS and on the 4th he was sworn in and on the way to RTC by bus. He only turned 18 two weeks prior to leaving. Our box was delivered last Friday but we weren't home so they delivered on Monday. Yesterday we received the form letter. Hang in there!
My son left March 4 ship 9 div 160...I would like to chat with anyone who is at about the same status. I didn't know about these types of sites ahead of time, so I am pretty unprepared for the sequence of events. I missed a call from my son yesterday and don't know if/ when I will get a chance to talk to him again. He left a voice message and sounded upset. I have sent several letters, but understand those take a while to get to them. I feel sick that I missed his call, and will not let my phone leave my side again
5/2 ...is it your son or daughter who is in.? How old are they?
We are in SC. I just think the recruiter should have briefed us a little better. The things I am reading on here, he should have told us so we would be prepared a bit better. My son is 21, but has never been away from vikkV Probably a little immature for his age. He hates the cold!! I just feel unprepared, so I am sure he feels that way too. I just read something about maybe not getting another call til right before graduation? I hope that's not true. I have written 3 letters, but the turn around time is probably slow. Thanks for lending an ear. My name is Vikki

Hi I just read your message, and I feel your pain. My heart goes out to you. My daughter leaves next week. I hope I have a chance to hear that you have talked to your son and he won't be upset. Hang in there :)
