My son just signed a new contract for Rescue Swimming and got his BC changed to July 29.
Just wondering if any one else is leaving that day?
Also any other Rescue Swimming of Special Ops moms with kids leaving in July for BC?
Thanks Kris(Whatever)

Hello, I'm new to this site, and sort of new to the military. I have three boys and it's our middle son that is leaving on July 29th. He just completed MEPS last week. We're going to sign more papers at the recruiters today. I am so grateful for this website, but still learning how to navigate. My son will turn 18 four days after he leaves for RTC. Right now his tentative job is "Mass Communications Specialist". It's great to see that others of you have boys/gils going in as Medica Corpsman" because that was my son's original plan. He is currently a Lifeguard, but is excited about the tentative position that he chose. I'm saying "tentatlve", because he may switch to a "Nuclear" position. Hes ASVAB test scores were high enough, but he has to go through a waiver process since he has failed a Math class. Crossing my fingers that he ends up doing what he wants :) Also, really looking forward to learning more about the others that whe will attend RTC with and looking forward to supporting each other
Hi Jimilene, Welcome I still feel like a rookie myself but the N4M site has given me so much info which has helped me a lot. I have joined about 7 groups that are applicable to me or my son and there is a lot of great people who can help answer your questions who have been in our shoes before. If your son is a life guard he must be into taking care of people and swimming. My son's first contract was for AW Boatswain(or something like that). But he wanted to be a Rescue Swimmer so his recruiter set him up to take a physical test that involves Swimmimg 500 yards, doing push ups and sit ups and pull ups and running a mile and a half in a certain amount of time. He did the test the first time and passed it. But they kept having him take it 1-2 times a month to see if he could improve it. We finally got the word that he made rescue swimmer and he signed a new contract. Have faith things are slow sometimes and waiting is hard. But I think that will happen several times in the Navy. Glad to hear I found another mom going to BC same as my son. Where is he leaving from?
My son will leave from Ohio. Although he was born in Colorado. I lived there for 17 years. Where in Colorado are you from?
Mine is also special ops and we will be going to Nelson with him and hopefully the airport to see him leave.
We are planning on going to graduation and maybe will get to meet some other parents kn the same track
Hi 2navykids, I sent you a personal message in your in box on your page regarding an event for SPEC ops DEP's in Columbus this weekend just wondering if you got it.
I want to but I'm not sure I'll be able to get off that day since we already have someone off that day. which spec ops is your son doing? my son also is very excited and happy. And I like you have done a lot of research and am overwhelmed, Yet happy that I'm learning more.
Its great to have this site and mom's like you who we can share this journey with.
