My son also arrived that day.  I'm hoping for the letter today.  Can't wait.  Best of luck to you also.

Kim - received the letter today! He is Ship 04 Div 813...

I received the letter today he is in ship 04 division 812.  so excited to get the letter

My son is in Ship 04 Division 812 .  I received the letter today along with his clothes.

So excited.

Some folks recommended putting pictures in a word document and typing or writing around them.  That way the pics are in the actual letter instead of printed copies that they may or may not be able to keep.

I sent a letter yesterday with a few pics in the word document.  Turned out pretty well.

My son left for boot camp on 3/18 I finally received his box Tuesday but still no letter. I feel bad if the others are receiving mail and he isn't. Anyone else's son or daughter leave on the 18th still waiting for their letter? Does it come regular mail?

My son left on the 19th. We received his box on Monday and his letter Tuesday. Yes it came regular mail. I have seen a few others in the special 800 divisions who have not received letters but got addresses from the recruiter.

Some form letters come 2 weeks after arrival or later, but most come at 2 weeks or less. Tomorrow will be day 10 and that is the average time to receive the form letter. Those with a receruit in an 800 Division typically rceive te form letter within a day or so of "the box" while those in a regular division receive it aout a week after receiving "the box." That is because those in an 800 division mail te form letter on the same day that they pack "the box" and those in a regular division mail "the box" at the beginning of P-days and mail the form letter at the end of P-days.

If you have not received the form letter by 2 calendar weeks after arrival, then it is fine to get the address from the recruiter and check the address against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works bcause by that time any changes in ship or division should have been entered in the system.

Just got my daughters letter today

What is her PIR date?

My son is leaving on March 12.  It seems such a long time away that I can't wrap myself around what exactly will happen. I'm sure the time will be here before we know it, but for now 5 months seems like such a long time from now.
