We're on the 3rd week now, I just heard from my boyfriend this past Saturday and that was hard, he was crying a lot and wanted to leave. Today is his birthday and he's is usually all I can think about, and I find ways to cheer myself up, but today is extra hard.

Sailors Girl-we are in this together as well as your boyfriend and my husband..look how fast the time is going by!! Soon we will be on our way to PIR!! What I do when I miss my husband is remember fun times it helps!! But trust me I know how you feel

Oh sweetie, our boys are in the same ship and division. I miss my man as well and I can relate.. he was crying on our call too! Feel free to friend me dear, you aren't alone!

Hey honey, hang in there :) my boyfriend just graduated this past Friday and he went through the same exact emotions your boyfriend is feeling when he called me too. He'd cry every call and say how badly he wanted to come home, I felt awful for him. So hang in there, write him, maybe add some encouraging words, and know that you will get through this, if my boyfriend and I can you can too :) keep your head up!

thank yall! you're all so positive and full of encouraging words

my husband cried almost every phone call that I got, which was surprising and made it so much worse for me. I felt so bad that he was so sad. My husband PIR'd on Jan 24th. He even cried PIR weekend. I wrote him a letter every single day, even if it was short and just kept telling him how proud I am of him. Just keep imagining being in his arms PIR weekend. That always helped me. good luck!!

Thank you, I do keep thinking about that. It just hurts me that he's that upset about it

Sailor's Girl - my SR is in the same ship and division. He called me Saturday and cried the whole time and asked me if I would be disappointed in him if he quit. I told him I would because he hasn't given it enough time and I felt like he was just home sick. He just kept crying and I could tell he was upset with me because I wouldn't tell him to quit. My job as a mother is to encourage him and that's what I was doing. I don't think he was very happy with me after that call which upset me very badly. It is still bothering me to this day. All I can do I pray he will be okay. I hope my next phone call will be a turn around as other members say typically happens. I don't think I can handle another phone call like Saturday's. I was hoping he was going to be upbeat and happy but that was not the case for me.

Yeah, he asked me what I wanted. And I told him to think about why he was there in the first place, for a better future for his family and that helped him a lot

Sailor's Girl it gets so much better girl hang in there.  I'm 4 weeks from seeing my honey bear and his birthday was the 5th of March.  Just write to him and remind yourself that in 5 weeks you will get to hug the crap out of your boo boo :)

Stay positive girl it is flying by and my friend told me once you are at the halfway point, it just flies by :)

Hi Sailor Girl,

It was my husband's birthday today too, which I agree did make it harder than most days to get through.  I think we have our good days and we have our bad days throughout this time period when they are at basic.  I have heard that these 2 months are the hardest months of all to go through for both the sailor and there loved ones, because there is extremely limited contact.  Once he is at A school you will have daily contact with him and can even Skype to see his face everyday.  That is what I keep reminding myself when I feel like my husband is so absent from my life, these 2 months will be over soon and I will once again by back in his arms.  As far as his morale I think it is important to write him lots of encouraging letters about how you know he can make it through and how proud you are of him.  Stay strong and we will get through this together.
