DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Good morning everyone. I know everyone is excited about attending graduation this week. The weather forecast this week is going to be in the low 70's to a high of 82 on Thursday. Friday is looking for scattered rain and 70 degrees so bring your umbrella's.

My wife and I look forward to seeing everyone at the meet and greet. If you have not RSVP on the event page, please do so. We will have a reception table and name tags will be there and table assignments will be posted. If you know someone who has not RSVP - please direct them to the EVENT PAGE so I can get a semi-accurate count and order enough food from the local restaurants. If you cannot RSVP - no problem!! just show up. There is no limit on how many can attend our free meet and greet.

a-pirinfo.pdf -This file is a PIR Check List. Believe me, the information contained in this document will save you money and heartaches.

diver.pdf - This explains a local program for individuals who wish to get diver certified while stationed at Great Lakes or who are in an "800" division and wish to enhance their skills.

duringdinner1.ppsx This PowerPoint presentation is what I present at the meet and greet. You may want to review it and print out the short-cut maps and directions.

Free Dinner for your sailor - this link provides you with the menu for your sailor. You may also want to consider dinner or lunch at Lovell's of Lake Forest. LOVELL'S OF LAKE FOREST  Lovell's is owned by the famous retired Navy Captain Jim Lovell (Apollo 13 Commander). He is normally there on Fridays for lunch and will give our sailors a free meal. If he is there, there will be a photo-shoot opportunity.

Rental Cars - My team and I rescue at least 2-4 families each week because of Rental Car issues. He is a quick guideline.

If you are renting a car, please have a CREDIT CARD not a DEBIT CARD to make your reservations. Most rental car companies WILL NOT ACCEPT a debit card unless you agree to the following:

a. You authorize them to run a "credit check" on you and; you agree to let them hold an additional $200-400 on the card in addition to; the rental fees. This will curtail your spending allowance since it ties up your funds and the money normally is not released by your institution until 3-6 days after they receive the release from the credit card company.

The same applies to your hotel. CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK WITH THE HOTEL AND RENTAL COMPANIES. They have large signs as you sign in at the rental counter or your hotel.

b. Gas this week is over $4.25 a gallon. Some offer a Pre-Paid fuel return. I recommend you check their terms - it is normally cheaper than filling up at a local gas station before you return the car.

c. Remember - there are always long lines at the rental companies at the airport. Plan accordingly and if your flight is delayed - notify the rental company. There is normally a cut-off time or closing time before you lose your reservation.

d. If you have an issue regardless of the time - call me at 847-212-0246 and we will come to the rescue. During the meet and greet my phone is forwarded to my partner. My phone never sleeps, it is always forwarded when I am not available.

Last but not least, please double check for identification requirements for both Graduation and Airline/Bus/Train requirements. If you have ordered gifts at the last minute from Lora or the other moms who are on this site and need them over-nighted, and the hotel delivery is not an option, have them contact me and they can send them to my home and my wife will bring them to the meet and greet Thursday night.

Safe travels and may the Great Lord Bless You, Your Family, and the Great United States of America.

My daughter and I are planning on attending, but we will be late. We fly into O'Hare at 5:30 pm.
