My girlfriend shipped out 20140501. I just received her box today. There wasn't a form letter with it but I think she sent that to her dad. When should we expect to get that form letter with all her information?? Also, I'm worrying myself sick until I hear from her. I keep obsessing over when I'm going to find out when she graduates, or when I'll get her first letter. I need to figure out how to stop. Any advice on how to get over that? I've noticed that it helps me to talk to people who have gone through what I'm going through. If there's anyone who's SO shipped out May 1st that wants to talk, I'd love to connect with some people.

The form letter should arrive in two or three weeks.  In the meantime, start writing letters.  You may also want to write in a journal where you can put down your fear and worry.  Try the new members group, as soon as you get the PIR date you can find other loved ones.

Hang in there!

So, should I expect to get her first letter before I get her form letter?? I know that they can write every Sunday, not including the first Sunday so this will be her first one. I'm really hoping that she writes this Sunday.

Maybe?  You don't know if this Sunday was her "first" because you don't know how many in-processing days she has had.  Sorry, there simply is no way to know so soon.   If she does not write, it may not have been up to her.

Also, her division has to have a trained recruit mail handler before they can receive mail, so expect to get her letters before she begins to get yours.

Okay since someone answers the letter part I'll tell you what I did when the husband left. I was sad for two weeks and it was hard as heck cause he didn't call me until end of week two. I wrote every single day and told him how proud I was of him, encourage her up the ying yang, I told him I loved him and couldn't wait to start new adventures with him. I have a job, dogs, school so I was busy girl so that's all I have :)
