I am so excited to see where this chapter of my son's life takes him but I also know I am going to miss him and worry about him more than ever before.  It is one of those times in life you want to be so happy but at the same time you are so sad.

We will be going also.
I counted the Fridays and Dev's PIR may or may not be Aug.9.
Guess we have to be patient and wait for the official word. Very exciting.

I definitely WILL NOT be on Aug. 9. That is a Saturday and PIR is on Friday. His PIR is most likely 08/08/2014, but it could also be the week before, 08/01/2014 since you indicate that he is leaving on a Tuesday, 06/10/2014, if he ends up in a Push Division and fills a division from the previous week's TG.

We will also be going to GL, have reservations for the first friday in aug,and the 2nd friday.

We are going too and I am following your lead and went ahead and booked for the same two weekends.   It will be our only vacation,so I wanted to make sure we stayed somewhere decent.

our only vacation too. We booked the navy lodge

How do you know when to make a reservation in GL? Reason I ask is, I never guestimated anything when the boys' dad was a Marine. The Marines constantly changed our plans on a moment's notice. Is it better just to wait until we receive the letter from bootcamp saying exactly when it is?

You can wait until you get the form letter. Some people use the 8, 9, or 10 Fridays after arrival to make the reservations before getting the form letter and then cancel the one/s that are not needed. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

That sounds like a good idea. So much to know.

You will have plenty of time if you just wait.

Opps

I meant 8-8.   Sorry! I have fat fingers !!

:o)

My husband and I are going also.  I wouldn't miss it.
