Hello everyone ,

I am new to the DEP June. My daughter was scheduled to leave in July, but got her job switched to the one she wanted this month and now she is leaving June 16th. She is going to be a CTT. I have been doing ok with this, My brother and best friend have both been in for 16-17 years. I know what to expect, but boy this change of date has kinda thrown me. She's my first child and I had her when I was 18  so I am having a hard time finding other people my age who have kids leaving like this !! I am not sure I'm ready for this and I am super excited for her all at the same time !! Looking forward to meeting other people who are also going thru this

Thanks , Christy

Hey Christy! I have an 18 yr old son leaving in April and a 21 year old son leaving June 11. My husband is active duty, so like you, I know what to expect, but it's different when it's our babies we are sending off too boot camp. One day at a time! We are here for you.
My fiancé is leaving on June 11th as well. I'm so glad I found this site it's so helpful and I'm so great full I will have other people to talk to and help along the way ❤️

Hi,

My son was going to originally leave in August, then October now June!  LOL What a ride so far!  I'm very happy for him but sad for me.

Hi, I am also new! My son leaves for BC June 30th. I am very nervous and worried. I have been a mom since I was 16 married my husband at 18 had all 4 of my kids by the time I was 26, so I was a stay at home mom and LOVED having my kids at home always!! Now that they are all getting older, getting married , having babies of their own I also have my grandbabies which does my heart well, but my youngest son leaving makes me feel so sad. I need to be happy for him but its so hard to do without your kids!!!

Hi Christy! I have a son in boot camp now, he graduates 6/13, and on 6/11 my oldest swears in and leaves. My husband is in the Navy, but holy cow it's something totally different sending your child off to boot camp. Lean of your new Navy sisters, and know we will get through it together.
Hi Christy,

I'm new to the group, too. My son leaves for MEPS on Sunday and on to BC on 6/9. He's 17 (will turn 18 in July) and going nuke. We are so proud of him and the commitment he has made to serve our country! That said, he's my baby (he'd be absolutely HORRIFIED to see that in print) and my heart is hurting a little knowing that the day that was months away when he chose to enter DEP last July is now literally around the corner!

I look forward to getting know other Navy moms and thank those who have "been there" for sharing their knowledge with newbies like me!
