My son was in BC a little over two years ago and is currently a CTM. His background checks began a few weeks into BC. He provided contact information for references at his school, jobs, church, etc., immediately after he arrived at Great Lakes. A man came to our house and interviewed me and my husband before my son graduated from BC. He also contacted the references (and our neighbor who was not a reference). It is a thorough process. My son evidently received good recommendations because he received his clearance and is doing well in his job.
My son did too because all the contact information the investigator required was on his cell phone, which of course, he did not have there. I was frantically looking up phone numbers and addresses for him. I think he was a little stressed at the time.
Hello Navy Moms. My son (CTM) called home during BC for information (addresses of people he used for references). The actual completion of this Clearance takes awhile to complete and may not happen until he finishes schooling at Pensacola and is at his choice of locations. He is now out of the Navy :)
I also have a current CTM. And they are all correct it starts right after they get to BC, Hopefully your will be needing some info and will get to call also. As most don't get to call for at least 4 weeks. That is if they have earned a call home. But those with these type of security clearance may get to call for needed info. My son loves his job. It is stressful at times. He will start out at NAS Pensacola with the ATT class then move to Corry Station for the CTM class. They must have it completed before they start CTM class as it is a restricted complex.
