I too have a loved one on the USS Bush.   We are new to this deployment thing. Does anyone know how long it will be before we have any contact with them?  We mailed a letter this weekend, and wondered how long it would be before they receive it...  Also wondering about any electronic correspondence.

Do you have their ship email address?

I don't.  It is actually my daughters boyfriend that is on this ship.  My daughter is also in the Navy, but a different squadron.  She is also in Virginia, but won't deploy for awhile. She was on leave when they left and forgot to ask about a ship email.

Usually they will receive an email address shortly after checking on board, however, every department is different. Some departments have more access to computers than others and may get to email more than others. I would assume they won't receive any mail any time soon, but that's just a guess. It's best to go ahead and mail stuff now in hopes of it getting there sooner than later. Sailors can also purchase calling cards on the ship but I bought my sailor's card on the nex website and just sent him the information for him to use it since they ran out of calling cards last deployment.

How can you purchase the cards in different quantities???  I'm under the impression that only ship to shore cards work for the deployment at sea,  but when I went to NEX there was only an option to order a quantity of 50 and it was $1000, I can't afford that at one time and he obviously cannot either. ?. Any suggestions

My son has been on the ship since Nov. and as of Feb. when he went back after leave, didn't have his email yet (or so he thought). He finally asked someone about it because he wanted to make sure he had it before they left. Apparently, he had it and didn't know it, so sometimes all it takes is to ask.

My son is on here. He's A PACT I haven't heard from him at all yet. I've sent him 2 emails and nothing yet. :( :'(

My son is on the ship-have recevied some emails.  .

Still haven't heard from my son yet. :'( :'(

They should be able to email whenever they have access to a computer, I know some are around computers a lot so they can send constant emails. I have been emailing my loved one since the day they left.  He is an AO and I email him daily.

Hi
