Hello my son is being shipped on July 7.  What is his job? My son's job is culinary specialist.  However he was looking for a different job.  If it opens up he will change.  But he does love to cook, there no shame it that!

Good Afternoon,

Jeff is going to be an eletrical mate.  He's very excited about starting his future.  Wish he could cook. (I love Chopped and I'm an aweful cook).  I'm not sure how you can change what job you've been assigned too - Jeff mentioned something about it after DEP class on Tuesday.  I'm on overload with the information.  The next few months are going to fly!!

My son is leaving July 23.  Not sure how the whole thing works, if they are grouped together within a few days or not.

I'm with you...I seems odd that there are so many differnt BC dates.  Then again... I'm overwhelmed with the whole process anyway...

My son just explained it to me.  He leaves on a Tuesday but does not actually start until the following Monday when bootcamp begins.  Everyone has different dates because they can't process them all at the same time so they stagger them over a few days.  And he also informed me he actually leaves on the 22nd.  Ahhh, one day less with him!

That may not be how that works for your recruit. His first day of training MAY be the following Monday as he believes if he fills a division on the day he arrives or it could be one or more days later depending on how long he has P-Days.

My son is also leaving July 23. His job assignment is AZ.

My son so far will be leaving 7/7/2014.  He has three other jobs offers, 2 just this past week.  First offer was Aviation Ordinance, which he had to make his mind in a matter of hours.  He agreed only to find out the next day he could not take it because he wears glasses.  The requirement he had to have 20/20 vision.  The 2nd and 3rd were not conducive for him.  2nd job was PACT which is like several steps down from his qualifications for other jobs and the other I don't know what it was but his ship out date would have change to October and he is ready now.    So we talked and I had him to watch the Foodnetwork with me.  I watch so much Foodnetwork I call my dialysis sessions my cooking class.   I even run my kitchen better than I did many years ago.  He is happy with his decision now.   He is aware there is long hours.  So he preparing now for BC and the long haul by everyday he goes to gym and workout.  He always telling his goals.   I am really going to miss him because we are very close.    However I decide to buy a foodsaver so when I cooked something new I can send in a care package.  If it is shippable food item.

My boy leaves 7/21 will be taking to MEPS and the leaves 7/22 from there. The day is creeping up on me and I am a mess already not sure how I will handle the actual day of departure. I would love to know when the graduation takes place but it seems nobody can give me a straight answer I have to make arrangements ahead of time so we can make sure his Dad can make it to the ceremony. Any suggestion how to find out ???

From my understanding..my son goes to Boston on July 21st with the recruiter and then we get to see him off on the 22nd.  Within 10 days you should receive a box with his belongs (phone, etc) and a letter stating when PIR is.  The date is about 8 weeks from his P-day start up.  But this is my first child going in so I could have it wrong.

My son reports to MEPS on July 22 and is scheduled to fly out on July 23. I look forward to staying in touch with you all.

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 09/19/2014, but since he arrives on a Tuesday, PIR could also be the week before, 09/12/2014, if he fills a division in the TG from the week before. You will just have to wait on the form letter to know for sure.
