Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in June to connect with others with loved ones who arrived the same day and may have PIR together.
I left additional info on your My Page.
Hey Motorcitymom, My son also left June 24. I am here in TX. He had just had his 19th birthday on the 23rd.Which is the night we dropped him at the hotel. I really feel that the hardest part of this journey was the anticipation of him leaving, especially the last month and then the last couple of days. I don't think I'd ever cried so much in my life. But now, here I am six days in and have had two tear free days. lol. I too am an empty nester now, my son is the baby of the family, last to leave the nest. I have not rushed to clean his room or make it my new office. But I am also not going to let myself make a shrine of him. ha ha. So easy for some of us moms to do. He left me with plenty of dirty laundry, so thats kept me busy. Not to mention I work and have made sure to keep myself busy. Thankfully, he has been busy this last year with his girlfriend and work, so I was already used to him not being around that much. But it is weird knowing he's not going to be walking in the door or up to have coffee on Sunday morning with me. Ohhhh life, we can't stop this train can we? It is something to get used to. I am officially an empty nester now, and living by myself for the first time in my life ever. To be honest, I'm kinda likin' it. :o) Often th
I have not been on here since signing up, but just realized my son and your son are in the same division. He also left on Jun 24 from Dallas, TX. We received our first "real" letter from him 2 days ago. He was concerned he had not received anything from us or anyone. We have now sent 2 letters and a third today. He didn't say anything about how he was doing or what he'd been doing. Have you heard anything from your son at this point?
My son also left on June 24, from Texas. I did get the short scripted phone call telling me he was there. Sounded tired . It was late on June 24 about 9:30. I would like to know if anyone has an idea how we get an address to mail letters. I not so worried about him getting hold of me. I just want him to know I'm thinking of him daily
You will be receiving The Form Letter in the mail soon--10 days after arrival is average. It will contain his address and PIR date and other important information. "The box" will arrive by FedEx soon if you haven't received it. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
My baby girl left on the 24th as well from Jax Fl MEPS. I am a USN veteran with a family of veterans and thought I was prepared for all of this. I was not by any means, miss her terribly. I'm still waiting to receive her mailing address -
My daughter also left June 24th. We are coping okay. It has been hardest on my youngest daughter, as our girls are 11 1/2 years apart. The youngest doesn't handle change well, so this is a huge adjustment. Our oldest spent the last year in college, so we are used to not having her around as much. Where the problem is for us is the not talking, texting, or skyping. We got her box Friday, and received her form letter today. Her PIR is August 22nd. I am guessing it will be the same for you guys, but not positive. She is Ship 11, DIV 255. I write her daily. I tell her what has happened for the day. And when I get around to watching our TV programs, I tell her what happened in them. I get to go to the post office today since I have her address. I also have given her address to friends and family so that they can write her. Her sister also writes her, and is excited to mail those. To help us we talk about our trip to visit. How we want to get there, the best route and what we want to see if we drive, and which will be better on our budget. We talk about the things Sissy (what my youngest calls her sister) will be doing, and what we will do when we see her again. It helps the 7 year old. I can't wait to see her!!! What a journey this is going to be.
Hello, I got my box yesterday but couldnt pick it up to this morning at my apt office. No note or letter, just his stuff. I was thrilled. Can't wait for an address. I have tons of letters to send already! I am doing ok. I miss the young man like crazy, but I trust God to keep him in the palm of His mighty hand and be where I can't be. And be for my son, all that he needs. Keeping busy, prayer, and family/friend support is how I keep my self going. Eight Fridays from this Friday. Thats how I'm lookin' at it now. :) Hope your doing well.
