While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PIR
I am confused. A few friends have had children go through Navy BC and they have told me they were able to go to PIR and then spend Saturday and Sunday with their Sailor. But now the info I am reading online says that some leave for A- school on Friday after PIR. Will we know this ahead of time? I am driving to IL and if my son leaves earlier than I expect I won't book a hotel for 3 nights? Anyone???

The RAP duty is between "A" School and his first duty station. Most Sailors have 10 days of leave, but some have longer if they have a longer "A" School and have more days on the books. RAP duty will allow him to have 5 days of unchargeable leave once he reports to his first duty station and turns in the paperwork. He has to work with the recruiter during his leave, but I is usually just a few hours a day.

Our son - who is in the nuke program - flew out Saturday. He had to be at O'Hare airport very early in the morning but his flight did not leave until 6:30 in the evening on Saturday.
Once at the airport, had checked in and knew his flight information, he was told he could leave the airport and do some sightseeing if he wanted. He chose not to as we were all there with him, but other SRs took the opportunity to go sightseeing.
I would keep the three nights of reservations and just be ready to play it all by ear.

Thank You! Good info to have. And actually about ten minutes after my son was sworn in, he came to us and said that he was told to say goodbye and that he had to leave. This was about 10am. We went and found out his flight info and he had almost 8 hours before his flight but was brought to the airport to wait. I think you are right, keeping the three nights is the smart way to go. Also I have never been to Chicago...so I can always explore after.....

Hope and pray for good weather. Chicago weather on the graduation week-end of 6/20/14 was the pits. almost didn't make it to Chicago due to flight cancellations and were supposed to be in Chicago at 10 AM Thursday the 19th, but didn't get to our room until 3:15 AM Friday the 20th (the day of graduation). Had to be at the base at 7:15 AM and it was about a 40 minute drive from our Hotel. Didn't get much sleep that night. Then spent the rest of Friday afternoon with our Sailor and met him at O;Hare at 3:30 AM on Saturday morning. They had caught the bus at 1:00 AM Saturday morning for a 7 AM something flight to Groton. We caught a few hours sleep until about 4 PM Sat and took the "L" blue line into Chicago just in time for the Heavens to open up again. Couldn't go up in the Willis Tower as the observation deck was closed due to the weather. Finally quit raining enough for us to walk through Millennium Park and go down to the Navy Pier and watch the fireworks.. That was all the Chicago sightseeing we got done. I was so glad to get back home and in my own bed.
