For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

He can take his cell phone. I don't believe they have phone banks anymore. It will come back with his clothes in the Kid in a Box.
My first son brought his small Bible with him and got to keep it, my second son who just left 2 days ago took his Bible too.

Great to hear that about the Bible. My son was given a small one after graduation in hopes he could take it to boot camp. Did you get "your phone call" yet? Keeping you in prayers.

Yes, I did. Thank you for asking. I got it the same day he left. He called me as soon as the plane landed and we chatted for a bit, then I got the official scripted call later that evening on the 1st of July. Now, I'm waiting on my Kid in a Box and the form letter. Although Hubby heard from his recruiter and looks like he's in Div 265.
Sorry, it took me so long to reply, but we were up in the mountains at my Mother's place and her internet is limited. ;)

I would suggest you get some Moleskin and cut it into different sizes and send a few pieces to him and stick a couple bandaids in there too. Also, a list of addresses and phone numbers and a special note from you. It looks like you have everything else that he needs. If he has a bank account, he may want to bring his debit card with him too and he should bring his account information with him also so he can set up direct deposit when he gets there.

Interesting on the debit(bank card). I didn't think he was suppose to bring anything like that. I have his bank account info for Wells fargo and he has a application for Navy credit union in process but don't know if it will be set up in time.(which is why I have his bank info for wells fargo) I thought he could only bring cash.

I went to the Christian book store and they have these neat prayers and Bible verses that are the size of a credit card. I bought one called "The Military Prayer" and my son was happy to put that in his wallet.

I forgot bandaids :-( can i send some when i finally get to write? Is it really needed? My daughter just left on the 1st and I put notes in her wallet pix phone numbers and addresses along with her debit card ss card and id she took an address book and her lil bible as well the church gave her the Sunday b4 she left.I felt so blessed the church prayed for her b4 her departure. Excuse my typing my phone isnt copperating with me... Take care moms.... Congrats to the new recruits and fam. HAPPY 4TH.

You can send bandaids later. She can get them from the medical person but it's just easier if she has them on hand when needed. It helps with blisters etc.

Isn't it nice when our pastor's pray over our servicemembers? We had our Youth Pastor pray over our son before their family left town and our Pastor prayed for our son in the service on the Sunday before he left for BC. I was so glad that my son grabbed one of the mini Gideon Bibles at MEPS before he left.
