So soon after high school graduation, but I know my daughter would leave sooner if she got the call. My corpsman in training has been ready for this day for 6 years.

My son leaves on the 8th (HIS birthday). I understand what you are feeling.  I have to work the morning he leaves for MEPS. My husband is going to drive him by quick before they go to the recruiters office.  (I go into work at 6am).  Your completely have my support and prayers.  I hope it goes okay.

My son leaves July 8th from Denver Colorado.  I can't believe its down to a week!

My son will be leaving connecticut on Monday the 7th, another corpsman. Then he will be going to Texas for A school! He has talked about doing this since 8th grade! So excited for him and already missing him!

Debbster, I left info on HM and groups on your My Page.

My son has been on that same track since 8th grade as well!  I wonder how we will all meet (if we will) at the PIR.  He went through Navy Sea Cadets and that has helped him get ready the last 3 years.

Plan to meet at a Meet and Greet the night before PIR. It is more likely you will find each other there than at PIR, although it is possible to meet up at PIR.

My son as well had been in the Sea Cadets. He also enlisted at 17 so his senior year being in the DEP program helped as well.  Did your son make sure he got his higher rank upon entry?

Yes, He did one final training so that he was ranked a PO2 in the program.  Some of the kids were ranked higher, but we did not have time to spend to send him to a bunch of trainings.  I understand that it will be nice to have a higher rank after A school is when it comes into play (I think).  I am just happy he got a small taste of GL before now.  That really was a positive experience for him.  What about your son?

He will have the stripes for E-3 at PIR and will be paid as an E-3 from the time he is sworn in at MEPS on the way to the RTC. The rate of E-3 will mean nothing until PIR. See E-1, E-2, or E-3? How did that happen?.

Ditto, we were sitting with the recruiter before my son left and he explained that same information and he had shared a website with pay scale for this year.   This was info I needed to get a copy for to show proof of income for something important.   This is my last comment for DEP's Moms see in Boot Camp's discussions.

My Daughter left for Meps on the 7th. Got to Great Lakes on the 8th she is going to be a Corpsman also- going to Texas for A School. Maybe they will be taking this journey together..

What a difference it makes to know there is someone else going thru same things as me in the same time..

My son leaves out on 7/8 from Indianapolis.
