Hello,
I'm new to the group. My son will be leaving for Hawaii soon. He will be on the USS Texas.
Just what he wanted since he's from Texas, ha!

Good Morning all you moms of the USS Texas in Pearl - my son is making his way around - been there for three weeks now - might go out soon and he has made some new friends and I know one of them is your son. His car won't be there until the 21st and God only knows where all his clothes are. I am hearing that the NEX is off base and there is a lot of walking involved. So far, he has no room mate - his room is old - the stove is down the hall so the fire alarms don't go off. He has a very large ship outside his window and every time someone who does have a car asks him to go somewhere, he has to work, so he doesn't get to go - He is lonely and lost in a big place - but he says it is beautiful and I feel sure he knows some of your sons. I just want to say thank you Navy Moms - all of you - for being here for me - I listen to what you say - and I know - once our sons deploy on the boat - we will have a lot more to say. I had to threaten my son so he would send me pictures. Hawaii has beautiful mountains - something we don't have at all in Florida - although the Palm trees are familiar. My son tells me that the sky is very cool - there are always cloud formations and right next to them are bright blue skies - that appears very different to him. He really loves it there and has met some very helpful people. I will stay watching this site regularly to hear all you moms talk about the boat and your sons. Mine can't wait for his Dolphins. I'll be here - waiting for more news. I am putting a picture or two on my page.
Hello ladies!!! My son graduates with ProudNavyMom in 10 days and will also be on the Texas! He is beyond excited and so am I! I know some of you from bootcamp days, so nice to see you again!! :)
just heard from msrb - her son is going to be on the Texas too. Whoopee!!! I told her about our page. Marlene, and you will be hearing from her soon. I am so happy we are all on here together.

Hello Hawaii Moms,
You might want to consider starting a group. Click GROUPS, then click +. Whoever starts the group will be the creator of the group who is also the admin. You can have as many admins as you want. You can make the group "private", so only members of the group can see the comments. I'll also add the group to the list of groups associated with ships.
Here's a discussions with the entire list of N4M groups linked to ships.

USS Texas (SSN 775)

My son finished his commitment in '12. Whatever company he interviewed with, there was always someone who had been in the service and often, a submariner.
Good Morning everyone with son's on the USS Texas. My son finally got his car - still waiting for his personal belongings shipment. He had to get his car emission inspected and they determined that his window tinting was too dark so it had to be removed and redone. Since I don't do Facebook, I am going to ask to my son today before he goes out on his boat and get information on how to contact him when he is gone. I am confused about what an ombudsman does. Not that it is necessary - I know they run silent - but I am sure there is more here about how to try to contact someone while out than I know anything about. Some of you, definitely know more than I do on this subject and have been there. I'm interested to hear.....
Hi Navymom2013, glad to hear your son finally got his car. The ombudsman is usually a wife of one of the officers on the sub (so I've been told), who sends out e-mails or can answer any questions pertaining to that particular sub, as to the comings & goings of what is happening & keeps the rest of us informed of anything we should know regarding the sub that our sailor is on. It is usually a good idea to give the ombudsman your contact info as well as who your son is, as she usually has all the info regarding the crew members who have contacted her. I asked my son to find out who she was on the Texas & give me her contact info, so I could be included on the Texas Facebook page, as I didn't want to be left out! Before Michael got to Hawaii, I had never heard of an ombudsman or what they do, so we all learn as we go along!
