For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi, My Son is a MA2 and has been in the Navy for 5 years. He is on his 2nd deployement. My husband is a Retired US Navy Chief and I served 12 years Active duty US Navy. I live in Roanoke, VA Nice to see someone from our area.

Hi Quiltlady--thanks for replying. My son was only one leaving from lynchburg on July 14th, although recruiter said there is a couple more getting ready to leave pretty soon. He at least flew out from richmond with at least 6 more to chicago. So guess he won't be only Virginian around. Good luck to your son! How long has he been in?

Not sure what rate - but He went into bootcamp as E3 and is going to be CM (Seabees). After bc he is Going to port hueneme, ca for A school and will graduate in December.

Goodness, you have a whole Navy family! That's awesome! My son is going for CM (Seabee) and will be leaving BC to go to Port Huineme, CA in sept. I'm a newbie to all this but learning a lot on NFM site. Thanks so much for replying and good luck to your son!

Hi ladies.
Hi Va moms!!! I live in Concord, Va, just east of Lynchburg. My son has been in since March 2011. He is a FC stationed in San Diego, on his first deployment in the Asian Pacific, on a destroyer. He should be back in the US Oct. or Nov. Even though he is halfway through it, still a LONG time for this mom. Hoping he will come home to VA soon after he gets back.

Oh my goodness..a navy mom in Concord! So close to Lynchburg! What is FC? My son is only about half way thru BC and I'm missing him a lot and it sounds like yours been gone so long. Its all just so new to me. How old is he? It's nice to know there's another navy mom nearby!

Oops! I think I just assume everyone knows all of the Navy terms and such. He is 23 and is a Fire Controlman. Doesn't put out fires, but controls a big gun called CIWS- Close In Weapon System. FC's have to sign on for six years since they spend about two years in school. Hard to believe he only has about 2 1/2 years left. It really has gone by fast and I remember how hard it was for us while he was in Boot Camp. Then when he told us that he chose to go to the west coast instead of the east coast, it got harder!! Have you gotten a ph call from your Recruit yet? Probably too soon. PIR was awesome! You have so much to look forward to. If you have ANY questions, or just need someone to talk to, please feel free to ask.

Wow--that sounds like an awesome job and to be only 23. My Son is 24 and had definitely wanted to go in sooner, but reconsidered and then Finally, he decided if wanted to do this thing, then better do before got any older. PIR sounds awesome and lining up our plans. I hope he gets stationed in Norfolk--but I guess navy will decide that! Thanks so much for letting me know it will get better!
