Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello All - my girl's PIR is 8/22/14. First days in boot camp she had to sign financial papers regarding pay, life insurance, Montgomery GI Bill VS Post 9/11. I wish I had known about this before she left to better guide her. I feel so naive in not knowing to ask her recruiter these important questions. I thought she was entitled to BOTH the Montgomery GI Bill and Post 9/11. Apparently, it is EITHER/OR. She signed up for the Montgomery which is $100 from her paycheck for the first 12 months. What I can gather, the difference is the Montgomery bill will pay for both higher education (college) and trade school (flight school, police academy, fire-fighter school, paramedics, etc). The Post 9/11 will pay for college only. Also, she signed up for life insurance at $30 per month. She is now questioning this decision. Is this life insurance term-only? and what is the dollar value?  Does it no longer apply if she leaves the Navy after her term? She is 18 years old and has never had to pay a bill in her life. I feel like we have failed her in not knowing which financial direction she should take. Any thoughts or corrections? Thank you for your help. Can't wait to see my girl!

Not sure about above note, but would love answers as well. I'm going to ask my son; since he didn't state he had to do that. Thanks for opening the discussion.

Hi Roohoo, I like you don't know much about this. My son said he signed a bunch  of papers, one having to do with life insurance. I don't know how much he is paying for it or if he signed up for the schooling bill. I hope someone that knows will answer your post because I want to know too.

This is a concern? I am sure my daughter will be confused. She really wants college but sounds like the recruiters should have informed of us so that we could guide her? Hope someone can answer our concerns. How soon after she arrived at boot amp did she have to sign papers?

Hi Karah's Mom: My girl signed these papers within the first week of boot camp. We informed her before she left to designate a beneficiary and to have direct-deposit for her paycheck. Had no clue as to Montgomery GI Bill vs. Post 9/11. She chose the Montgomery bill. I only wish we had known that she had to make a choice between the two. Either bill WILL pay for college. Montgomery bill costs $100 per month for their first 12 months. Post 9/11 does not cost nothing. Seems to us, the Montgomery bill gives her broader options. Perhaps, I'm wrong. I, too, would like guidance on this matter. Hope all is well.

I haven't heard what my son has signed up for, but I told him before he left to take whatever they offer, but ASK, ASK, ASK questions! I did advise him to get life insurance, they will help with a Will.

Thank you so Much for the replies----just after I asked this question--Thank God--my daughter called us from bootcamp--WhoHOO....I did ask her if she signed papers on the Insurance and had to choose between benefits--She said she chose the Montgomery Bill....We did not have much time to talk about "why" she chose that as she only had a few moments to talk as this was not her REAL phone call home.
 But yes--I am disappointed that the recruiter did not inform us of this.  I will do more research on the differences but it does seem the Montgomery bill is a better choice--but all we kept hearing was the Navy had the Best GI Bill?   I welcome any more information and if I get It -I will post it for the group

Hello everyone: Just received a 22 minute call from our girl. She said she pays $30 per month from her paycheck for a $400,000 life insurance policy. Still don't know any specifics as far as term-life, etc. Sounds like a good deal.
