Hi everyone,

My son left for boot camp August 25th, and although I haven't received my form letter, I have started my letter writing as it helps me get through my day..I miss him terribly.

I know our letters are supposed to be positive and encouraging, I was wondering about sending pictures? I don't know if my 20 year old son would appreciate pictures of him and his mom? I got some crosswords and word finds to stick in the envelope..can anyone suggest anything other than " I miss you so much and can't stop crying?"..lol

My daughter left the 26th. I myself am having a hard time. I haven't got her box or anything else but I have already starting writing as well. My eyes are swollen from crying too..

I'm sorry Kaitsmom, I totally understand. I thought I was prepared, but nothing would have prepared me for this feeling. I got the box Thursday and my son arrived Monday, so I would imagine yours will be there soon..today is a holiday so probably tomorrow? My son was prepared, was your daughter? I am sure she was..I think the parents, especially us Moms, have a harder time..

This site is wonderful though, it gives you lots of information and it also helps to know that others understand. I almost wish I had to work today lol. I read something on here that was very inspiring about counting the Fridays to the graduation..I have already checked one off my list, and it is encouraging.

Pre activated phonecard, encourage your future sailor, fireman or airdale, be proud.
Maybe stamps also, not sure but we had to purchase then at the NEX when I went to basic.
Throw in his favorite comic strip, or maybe some upbeat news clippings about his favorite sports team or local news about things he would know.

I had forgotten that shipmates sometimes call an Airman an Airedale.

The first time I heard that was 1980 from CPO Goodyear in Orlando RTC.

:o)

Dennis, check your My Page.

Thank you so much..it's only seven days, and I am still walking in a fog, anxious to hear from him..the information and support on this site is helping me cope :)

You are very welcome.
