I got the call in the early morning hour she had arrived.

My son left 9/8 and I am a hot mess! Like you have all said, we are proud, but our hearts have an empty place right now. This is much harder than I had expected. I know he is going through a lot, but lord knows it is hard on us parents too.
I stalk the mail lady, have sent several letters, and when I saw my "kid in a box," the waterworks started again!
Hang in there! If it wasn't for this site I'd be more of a mess than I already am :)
My son arrived Tuesday, 9/9 - I just received the box and the form letter - PIR Scheduled for 10/31!!!
Mine arrived 9/8 and his PIR is 10/31 as well!
My son also arrived on the 9th. I was a mess for about 3 full days. Went away for a long weekend with my husband to keep my mind occupied. Missed his box from Fed ex today, that upset me. Very proud of his choice but this not being able to talk to him for so long is harder than I ever imagined.
Thank you for all the help with changes, I think I have them all right now, and the note is on the door.
I don't know about others but I am feeling quite a bit better after getting the form letter. The first letter to my SR will be going out in the mail tomorrow. I'm also going to tweak some of the questionnaire questions and send to him. No tears today, so far.
We booked our hotel for PIR last night. We will be staying at the Marriott Courtyard. Originally was wanting to stay at the Navy Lodge but it's booked up for the 10/31 weekend. The Marriott had great reviews, is close to base, and is reasonably priced. When selecting a hotel be sure to read the reviews before picking one, a few have really bad reveiws. The excitement of making plans to attend graduation and getting some letters out to my dear son are really making my heart feel better.
Still no form letter, getting anxious about making reservations. Seems some that got there the same day are saying PIR is Oct 31 and some Nov 7. Hoping tomorrow will be the day.
