For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

My son arrived at RTC yesterday as well after a long flight from LA. It was really hard on me too as I didn't know what flight he would take, when he would arrive or if he even made his place. Fortunately, he called with a buddy's phone when he arrived in Chicago for a quick (3 minute) phone call and then called again almost 2 hours later with his scripted call. I can't hardly wait for the next call in 3 weeks. Looks like we'll be attending PIR together!

My bf left yesterday also... I am such an emotional wreck..I try to occupy my time but because I dnt know exactly what he's doin (I usually do) he always pops up in my mind. I miss him so much. Good luck to your sons I'll make sure to keep you guys and your sailor in my prayers.

Today was a better day for me. No big tears, just some little ones in my eyes at one point today. But I was able to get it under control pretty quick!! Progressing!!! Justwhisl-we are only 2 1/2 hours south of Chicago, so my son just rode a van to St. Louis MEPS and then another military bus to Chicago. I can't wait for the 3 week call either!! I entered the week and how many weeks to go on my calendar on my phone. AmandaHisNavyGirl- I think that's the hardest thing too just not knowing what they are doing. Everyone says it will get better. I know it will, but I'm ready for PIR!!! Our recruit said it would be Friday, Nov. 21. Did you get that information too??

Haven't heard. Our recruiter is of no help whatsoever. I'll just wait for the letter and plan from there. I'm doing pretty well. This is what he wanted and he worked towards so while I know he is tired, prolly hungry and maybe even missing home, I also know he's happy. He has a lot to learn, as do I, and I am sure he's tackling everything head on. That's the type of kid he is.
Still hoping I am able to go to PIR. His dad is on vacation that week and he may have to go it alone. Scott is more concerned with his grad from NPS in 2 years. He feels that is the more important "graduation". We'll see if he changes his mind in the near future.

Your son will be fine, he has to attend 3 meals a day, my daughter says the galley food is good and healthy.
Your son is now part of one of the best families "Navy Family.
If possible attend your SR PIR, they work very hard for this and I know for fact being prior Navy a familiar face in the crowd after graduation is a very welcoming gesture

In my mind I know he's being taken care of, but in my heart I miss him so much. Yes, I wouldn't miss PIR for anything!! I'm already counting the weeks down!! Thank you for your encouragement.

Hey... I haven't heard anything yet and it's driving me crazy. I'm so use to knowing exactly what he's doin and I'm just worried I hope he's ok but I can't wait to hear from him once I know he's good then I'll be good.

I haven't heard anymore since his script call but know the "letter" will arrive in another week or so. In the meantime, I've been "writing him" letters he won't ever see. It's helped to put my feelings out on paper. I hope you hear something soon. Remember, they get to call about the third week or thereabouts.

Yea I've been writing everyday since he left. I'm going to just mail them once I get his address lol he's going to have a lot of letters lol. 3 weeks is a long time I miss his voice.

I haven't heard anything either, but yes, I am expecting the package and form letter with his address. I miss him so much too and miss hearing his voice. I wonder if they got their haircuts yet?

This is a very informative page. Im not 100% sure exactly how accurate it is but I've been looking everyday to get an idea with my son might be going through on a daily basis.
