I was just wondering if any of you have son's/daughter's leaving right after boot camp to the Nuclear Power Training School in South Carolina? The only posts I find on this site are from 2013 and dating back as far as 2008. My son is going directly into the Nuke program right after his PIR on 11/14/14 and I was wondering if anyone else has the same situation? Thanks!!

Just click on the above link. It will take you to a very, very active group with 2536 members. We have moms/dads with tons of experience. We also have a few dad who were prior service and even one who was a nuke himself. These ladies will take you from the beginning of A school right on up to boat assignment. You will not be alone. Good luck and welcome to the nuke community.

By the way, my son was a nuke officer on a sub. He finished his commitment in 2012 and had no problems finding a job in the civilian world. I am in Northern CA. If you find yourself feeling lonely, feel free to join our local CA group. We have 553 members and many meet and greets, with quite a few nukes in the group - both enlisted and officers.
Thank you BunkerQB! Great information and much appreciated!
Hi, My son Richard is in the nuclear program and is currently in boot camp. His graduation date is 11/7/2014 and then to South Carolina.
Hi Lindahong, That is wonderful! Maybe they will meet in boot camp and can study together while in school. We know they will be doing allot of that! ;-) Thank you for your response. Patiently waiting for that PIR!! Missing him terribly!!
Hello Rhonda,
My son said your son is in the same group with him and he is very cool and wants to be roomy when they get to South Carolina. I am so glad he meets your son and they can be friend.
Lindahong,
Click "MY PAGE" on the menu bar. This will take you to your personal page. Lemonlelelphant and other have left posts on your comment wall.
In particular, there is a post from Kathy, a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Navy Families group. (Clickable link). We have many from the Tracy area and many nukes. My son was a nuke officer on a sub. Additionally, we love to get together.
BunkerQB.
Hi Lindhong,
That is wonderful! So great to hear someone knows him. I think he is a pretty cool kid if you don't mind me saying. ;-) I hope it works out they end up roommates. I am not sure how that works. Very exciting times ahead. I look forward to meeting you at PIR! Thanks again!
Hi Lindahong,
I just remembered your son is PIR a week before mine. So I won't meet you at their PIR but hopefully in SC someday. ;-)
Hi Rhonda,
My apology for the mistake. Have a good day.
I left info for you on your My Page.
My son arrived at GL last week, October 1st. He is leaving right after PIR for nuke school too. I'm still waiting for my son's letter. I received his box today and held his clothes and cried. I assume my son's PIR will be December 5th. So, they will there together at some point. Have you heard from your son yet? Does he like it? Take care.
Denise
