For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello lorikmclaughlin ,
Our son arrived at GL on the 24th also! I was less emotional today, meaning my eyes didn't look like I was a heavyweight fighter ;) I can see today at least lol. When Im feeling really low, I remember how much he wanted this and how hard he worked to get to GL. My husband called the recruiter today and got our sons address for mailing. Makes me feel better that I can at least write him soon !

It's so up and down!! One minute I'm fine, the next I'm fighting back tears!! If someone sends me a picture taken of my son with someone before he left--that's it, I can't hold it in!! Crazy!!

Hello Missing my Son,
I am also missing my son terribly, i was a total mess for 3 weeks before he left, i have two other children that has joined the Navy. You would think i would be use to it. lol.. But its not been an easy trip this time for me. I think it is because he is the baby of the group and it was really hard for me to let him go. I can assure you it will get easier. But you will never stop missing them or worrying about them, but what has gotten me threw is just knowing they are in good hands, and having a wonderful support group helps also. Heads up Moma it will be over soon and we will be all celebrating with our children soon. Just remember we are on the count down.. Soon we will be seeing their beautiful faces again..:)

I got "the box" today!!!! No letter or anything, just his clothes, shoes, phone etc. I'm looking forward to the form letter with his address so I can write to him.

My son left Memphis Wed. October 8th.....He had a long delay in Memphis and then another long delay in Dallas.....I know he was exhausted by the time he got to GL....I miss him more than words...I just pray for all of the recruits that they will be physically and mentally strong. Our son's recruiter gave us an address where to write, but I do not know whether it is ACTUALLY his address. His father and I have written him daily letters and I pray he gets them. Have not received "the box" and dread it when I do. I would give anything to know that he is okay or just talk to him. My son is on Ship 12, Division 035....anyone else have a son in that division?

Terrievan-the days do get better! The box was a bit emotional, but I held it together pretty well. Once I got his form letter I started sending him letters. I think it helps tremendously when they can call and you can hear their voice!! He's gotten to call twice since he's been there. Not counting the "scripted, I got here" call. I've gotten them on Saturday's so far. You'll probably be getting a phone call soon!! I completely understand your missing your son. It's huge!! It does get better and then the mind shifts to being excited for PIR and counting down the Friday's until that happens. This is a wonderful site. I've had so many questions answered. Look for a group with your son's PIR date. It may not be up yet, but that will be a great group to follow-lots of info and advice. Hang in there!

My son took his oath today. I have known for a long time when he would be leaving. My heart is breaking and the tears come. I know that the holidays will be different without him. I hope that he takes every opportunity that he can to see and do and learn.
