OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Ellen:

Sorry to hear of your disability and hope you can find fulfilling things to do. I have severe asthma and am not suppose to go outside. And I love to garden. It's a struggle, but we manage somehow!

Would you share some stories of your son's naval career? Most of us in this group are new Navy Moms and would be so interested in hearing about the adventures of a Sailor who is also a sonar tech...
Oh yes, please share with us!!!!
Sounds like not many STS moms around. My sailor's on the USS New Hampshire, newly commissioned last weekend.
Jeanne: How exciting to be a plank owner!! Where will the New Hampshire be stationed out of? And is the crew aboard yet??
I am new as weel My son is still in Groton for Aschool What is the difference between STS and STG??? thank You!!
ST is sonar technician.
STG is sonar technician - surface
STS is sonar technician - submarine
Hi Moms! My son Mikie, is on the Lake Champlain, currently deployed. Boy am i glad he is in todays hi tech navy where he is just an email away!
USS MUSTIN DDG89 - Hey ladies, my son Zak is an STG and loves his work it would seem. He's been aboard the Mustin since March 1, 2009. They are busy, so I am "keeping" busy. The Mustin is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.

I'm a little tired, and try not to worry but I'm finding sleep is not my best friend these last few weeks. We finally heard from Zak this morning, it's always early, like 4:30 am :) My husband loves those phone calls. My husband, Doug, is a sailor as well. A Merchant Marine Captain and currently on the Pacific side of Mexico. We live in Port Saint Lucie, Fl.

The blogs have been a "good friend" late at night :) I watch for glimmers of information on the Mustin. Anyone have a son or daughter aboard her?

Ali
I have uploaded some photo's but I'm not sure where the link is to upload music, does anyone know how to do that? Thanks!
