Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 043 and 044

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

YAY!!!! I will get to virtually "meet" all of you that have loved ones in the same division as my son;)

We are from Oregon. I have not heard from him yet, other than the box and form letter. I really believe that is because he is so busy learning what he needs to and being safe. I am sticking with the "no news is good news" mantra:)

Can't wait to meet everyone at PIR

get by your phones.... calls are coming right now!!!! everyone is in line behind my son:)

we got the call!! nothing but tears of joy from proud parents, here!! he is doing great!!

Yay! My SR called sounded good!

We got the call this afternoon and were so happy to hear his voice! Looking forward to receiving the letter he wrote us.

I missed my call!  :(

~Lisa

I missed it too but he left a voicemail that said he was doing really good.

Hello! My name is Chris. My son is in division 44. We are from Southern California. I got the box and the form letter and missed his call yesterday by seconds... The phone was charging in the other room. I got his voicemail and he sounded so bummed that I didn't answer. I was so traumatized, I kept my phone in my jeans back pocket and it wound up in the toilet! So after re-upping my Verizon contract and $150 dollars later, I'm back in business and you bet I'm not letting that phone out of my sight. Anyone know what days/times they will be allowed to call???

I decided to stay the night before close to RTC instead of at my aunts in Crystal Lake. Anyone know of a reputable hotel in the area?

thank you!

Chris

Hi Chris! My son is in the same Div and is also nuke. I'm so sorry you missed your call - I didn't get one at all so am operating under the no news is good news idea! We have booked at the Waukegan Courtyard Marriott. It has good reviews. We are flying in from Washington state.

Chris - my son went through boot in 2010 and we stayed at the below hotel for his PIR.  It was a really nice place, close to RTC and had full kitchens so you could cook for your new sailor if you wanted to.

Thank you Libby! The Courtyard does look wonderful. I have reserved a room for my older son and myself for the night of the 11th. Not sure if I'll stay another there, as we may head to my aunt's house in Crystal Lake.
Did you see Sarge's meet and greet on Thursday night? You may want to plan your flight early enough to attend that. I think it will be fun!
It's so much fun to plan this trip... best to all!
Chris

We are flying in the 10th and staying in Chicago that night, doing the Magnificent Mile Thursday, as well as the David Bowie exhibit at the museum. Then we are driving up and checking in to the Courtyard for the rest of the weekend, hoping to hit the meet-n-greet!
