so in a case of..."the government doesnt know when the government is closed" my son's date to leave for BC got moved up to 11/6/14 because...well the GL facility is effectively closed for like 2 weeks in December.  So he leaves 11/6, completes BC in 6 weeks.  BC Lite!   Anyone else's child have their date moved up?

It's ok!!! When I read your post I was only a day or so in to my son being gone and it just startled me (I guess) to hear it so bluntly put!! I hate that you've had a terrible experience and will pray for your son and your family that things would get better and that the wrongs that have been done will be made right!!!!

Thank you. My son went in to be trained as an interpreter. At BC he wrote that  among his list of friends was a college friend from Tufts Univ.- a refugee from Pakistan. His friend is a registered political asylum nee.(sp?) who has worked for Raytheon (DOD largest contractor). My son was told HE could not be an interpreter because he would not qualify for the security clearance because of his  friend. His dreams were dashed. He is now doing a job any hs dropout could do- filing. The Navy is ignoring his education, his bilingualism, his many talents. May your experience be much better :)!

That would be great if PIR was Dec 19 instead of 31. My daughter left for RTC on Nov 5. I would like to get our tickets ASAP. But don't trust everything you hear- our recruiter told us the Navy would pay for our airfare! He called back later in the day to say he made a mistake. Also said to to send cookies if enough for 50. I'm doubting that in RTC, maybe A school...

Hi Ericuts don't send cookies! They are not allowed to have anything sent to them while at RTC with the exception of letters and a couple small photos. My son told me that if a recruit receives things like this their entire division will get in trouble. His recruiter confirmed this.

My daughter left for bc on November 5th out of the Indianapolis area. We were told they may be going to a push division. I received a call on Saturday from her and she was being told PIR would be either 12/31 or 1/9

My son left on 11/6 and his recruiter called on Friday to tell us his address and stated that as of that day the PIR was scheduled for 12/31 but he said to wait for the letter to be sure because it could change. My son also called me on Saturday....I was shocked at first and thought something was wrong but he stated that they were given a 10 minute call while at the NEX. He had not heard of what date the PIR was going to be.

I have twin boys that left from Mississippi on the 6th.  Their recruiter said he did not know what date their PIR would be.  He said he wouldn't be able to find out until after their first week at BC and no one at MEPS told them anything about their PIR date.  He also said they would not be sent home for Christmas.  I did not receive a call on Saturday.  My sons arrived so late Thursday night it was likely they were going to be in a push division.  As much as I would love to see mine asap I do not want their training cut short or for them to be pressured on time.  I don't think they will benefit from that.
