Hi everyone. I just have some concern in regards to the box and the form letter. I have been going out with my boyfriend who is in bootcamp right now (He left on 11/25/2014). To cut the story short, I do not have the best relationship with his family right now because of some personal reasons. But I was just wondering if he has a choice to send the box to me rather to his house. And how long does it take? Cause it has been so hard not to have any contact with him. I miss him a lot. Thank you.

I don't know your answer Intell, but wish you good luck with it. I know it has to be hard for you, as the mom in that same type of situation (my oldest ships in less than a week, and the girlfriend in this one has gone out of her way to make things difficult), it's hard for me as well. He promised to send to me and I promised to send her the information I get... maybe he will ask them to do the same if you don't get it... hopefully you'll hear from him soon tho. Keep your chin up. (=

Thank you. I know it has been hard for both parties (his family and I) but this is not the first time this has happened. His brother who is also in the Navy have some issues with his own family as well. But thank you so much. Hopefully everything will go well. Good luck.

I hate to hear that, but  like hishippygirl said, it will go by slow/fast, and will be over before you know it. Feels like this is my second son going through, my middle son's best friend graduated three weeks ago and is in Florida now, my oldest leaves on next Monday, my middle son leaves a month after him, and his other best friend leaves in March... the people in Shreveport are going to know me by name before long if all of them keep signing up! Hugs!

He will address the box however he chooses but he will be extremely rushed at that point and won't have a lot of time to consider where he wants his things to go. So whatever comes into his head first is probably where he will send them. It takes about 5 to 7 days to arrive. Contact will be very limited, so ready your heart. Sometimes it will seem like it lasts forever. In the end, it will feel like it went quickly. But the in between part is hard sometimes.
Thank you for the answer. We have talked about it however I am just worried because I know for sure they won't give me information about him. And it been so hard from being with him everyday then not being able to see or even talk to him. Thank you. I appreciate it.
Patience. He will call, he will write to you and most important he will be waiting for you to write to him. Keep your phone by you. Pick up the phone for every call out of area. I love my son's girlfriend, it broke my heart when my son said she did not write as often as I did. Well, I had the extra time and poor girlfriend was working overtime to pay air tickets to go to PIR.
Your boyfriend has nobody at boot camp but you and his family, and if he is like most men, you are the one he wants to hear about first. Start writing letters now and send them out as soon as you get his address. Keep positive specially when you talk to him. Don't be disappointed if other recruits had called and he hasn't, every recruits experience is different.Good Luck.
Yes I have been writing each and every day. I even printed some quotes and lyrics for him to read. He already have called me (the scripted call) few days ago. Thank you for sharing your own experience. It really helps.
That is great to hear. But maybe because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the box shipment is delayed. And he has called me when he got there. How are you coping up with things? Because it's been difficult for me but I know it must be more difficult for him.
The SR. addresses the box of stuff and form letter themselves. He will also be the one to place the names in the form for who can attend PIR. From what i have seen on here and FB, girlfriends usually hear from the SR before moms do.
Wish you the best.

Just my 2 cents here for what it is worth (I get along great with my son's GF and we exchange info whenever we hear from him) because I have an extremely strained relationship with my ex-husband. If your SR sends the form letter and / or box to you, please make sure you pass on all the pertinent information to his family. Being the bigger person never hurts and it will lessen the strain on your SR while he is at GL. It is a stressful enough time as it is. I let my ex know when he made the scripted call and I scanned the form letter and sent it to him. We will sit apart at PIR (just like his college graduation I guess I will sit with the GF and my daughter will sit with her dad) but we will divide up our time with him. Your SR will REALLY appreciate not having to worry about you and his family fighting.

my2kidz, great advice! I agree completely:)
