My son called me at 12:15 last night - 'I'm here, I'm fine".  He has been waiting to make that call since February when he got his ship date.  It was a long day of flying and waiting between flights to get to GL. I will now wait for "the box" and the letter with his address and ship and division and PIR.  It will be a different holiday season this year but I am proud of his decision to join the Navy.

I got my call on 11/25 at 11:11pm. Can't wait to receive his form letter.

Well, "the box" arrived this morning via Fed Ex.  I did get a bit emotional when I saw that he made the effort to address the box very legibly (not normally the case!)  .  I haven't opened it yet.  I'm waiting for his Dad to get home tonight.  His Dad is having a tough time.  This is our youngest and now we are empty nesters!  But, I'm proud that my son made the decision to be independent and join the Navy!  I look forward to getting the letter with his ship and address!

Lilo54, Hi there, this is my second son to leave the nest,  we still have two to go (a daughter and another son).  Definitely feeling the empty nest syndrome.  Hang in there sweetie.  Lol, my son has horrible hand writing because he is always in a hurry..so when I could actually read the address I cried and smiled..

I opened "the box" this morning.  NO note but his phone and tablet were there and arrived in good working order!.  He packed his clothes which included the one pair of jeans with no holes!!!  I can see him assembling the box now and thinking about his dad and me when we opened it!   Its hard to believe it has been one week already!  I think about him everyday - especially early in the morning (he was not an early riser!)

My son arrived at GL the 25th as well.  I am still waiting to get the letter.  have any of you received it yet?

to myboyCadel - I assume you mean the form letter with his address and PIR date.  You should get your letter any day.  My son said that things were delayed because of the holiday.  I got my letter last Thursday.  I don't know where you are located, but sometimes it might take longer to get the letter.  If you don't hear anything by tomorrow, you might want to consider calling his recruiter to see if they have the information.  The hardest part is the waiting.  Good luck - hope it came in today's mail!!!!

lilo54 .. thanks .. I am meaning the form letter...  I got his box last monday I think.  We are only 2 states away from GL so mail should not be much different from anywhere else.  I guess I am just an impatient mom!   thank you for the response

exciting day I got the letter today...  I now have his division and everything..  YAY!!!!   I feel so much more at ease knowing that I have an address for him!   ship 02 div 911 excited for 1-23
