For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

I'll get this going...share about you and your SR too! We are from Ohio. Our almost 23 year old son is at boot right now. Going into Electronics Technician or Fire Controller as a reservist so he can come home and finish his college degree in aviation management. We have an older son who is an Infantry Marine so we've been on this military journey for about 3 1/2 years. Believe me, PIR will touch your heart and the pride and love you have for your new Sailor will be like none other! I saw my husband cry for the first time in our 28 years together at our son's Marine graduation! We also have an older daughter who is a teacher and a younger son who is going to college to become a pilot. Looking forward to getting to know you all better! And am praying for all our SR's!

Hello...
We are from Southern California. Our 21 year old son is in BC and God willing heading to school for IT. We have a few past generations of family members who have served in different branches, and now our son. Proud and excited for his journey and future serving our country. Looking forward to PIR and hoping for warmer weather - the kind we are used to. Haha. -

socalmom21 and KS...isn't it interesting that we all have sons who are little bit older? So I'm curious..why did your sons join the Navy at this point in their life? For our son, he had talked about enlisting when he was in high school but had a gf at the time that talked him out of it. Now he decided to do reserves so that he "could do something bigger than myself "'. He didn't go active duty right now because he's getting close to finishing his college degree and wanted to come back to finish that with some help from the GI bill. What are your sons' stories...if you care to share?

We are from North Florida. My 19 year old son is going into subs. My son didn't want college at the time, so he decided to do this with college in the future. I am excited to see the man he is becoming during these new chapters he is adding to his life everyday. Just a few more weeks til graduation. Woo Hoo!!!

Hi we are from El Paso TX. My son is 22 he had his birthday at BC. He was in college studying electrical engineering and is now heading to Nuclear Energy. I have a 19 year old daughter leaving to the Marine BC in January. This will mean that my 12 year old daughter and I will be by our selves. I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmases!

Hey Letibeth...I have a Marine too, as well as our almost Sailor! Cool! My 2 boys greatly respect each other's military service, but also have a good time teasing each other about which is the best branch! Then we throw Grandpa into the mix (he was Army) and it gets interesting at our house! It will be a big adjustment when it's just you and your daughter come January.

Yeah we are first generation American born. My kids are second on my side and first on their father's side so we don't have a military background. Last year my youngest brother became an officer in the air force. That was hard for my mother and then my son left in November and my daughter in January. So now we have air force marine and navy. My kids already tell their uncle he is in the "chair" force. It has been a big adjustment already the holidays and then he left on my birthday and his birthday just passed by also. We have good days and bad days.
