1. Can anyone please tell me at what point do the tell a sailor where he will be stationed after prototype? Is it after the written or after the oral board?
2. Do they have any formal graduation ceremony? How much notice do you get?
Thank you...

abeluegirl - your son is graduating proto - in Charleston? I know they didn't used to have a graduation for them but recently started holding it at Patriot's Point. I believe it's limited guests though. Your sailor should have some info to pass on to you as no invitations are sent out for proto grad.
Our sailor is graduating proto in NY on 1/23 and he still hasn't received info on location/time. We've made our reservations already and are just waiting for him to find out!
JulieL - when did your son graduate proto? I know this time last year it was held at the Milton Community Center. I guess maybe they use whatever is available?
My son graduated prototype in NY on October 24, 2014.
My son didn't find out where he was stationed until about a week after he completed the oral board. I don't believe that it is the same timing for everyone and every class. And they had an informal family friendly graduation ceremony at the Knights of Columbus in Ballston Spa. While it was informal it was well attended and we were glad that we went. The Ballston Spa/Saratoga Springs area is a very nice area to visit. I think he knew the date of his graduation ceremony once he completed his oral board. Good luck.
Thank you... We are hoping he gets San Diego and are just anxious to find out.
Generally, everyone in a prototype class gets the notification of their fleet assignment all at about the same time - two-three weeks prior to their class's scheduled grad date. It's not directly related to either their final written exam or oral board, since the exam dates vary so much by individual; some may finish as much as two months before grad date, while others the night before graduation - but orders come in all about the same time.
My son finished and passed his written last week. I think his oral is the later part of next week. The suspense is killing me, lol
