For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

question for those whose sailors have completed prototype
1. Can anyone please tell me at what point do the tell a sailor where he will be stationed after prototype? Is it after the written or after the oral board?
2. Do they have any formal graduation ceremony? How much notice do you get?

My son graduated this past Friday - 1/23. He re-enlisted at graduation so he is an E5 now and will not have to live on the carrier. He will be getting an apartment with his best friend from proto (and they were roommates together in Ballston Spa). He's an MM2.

If you can't get a photo, that's fine too, kid just told me he doesn't want to make anyone have to go through any trouble in getting a pic, he's got that typical Nuke attitude, and doesn't want a fuss. Of course he promised me a selfie, is it me or do our kids not get it???

abeluegirl - did your son not pass his power school comp? If so he should be able to re-comp or go before the ac board. Has he told you anything? They normally re-comp the next week.....

All he said is that he still has to board. I really do not understand. He is very bright but has been going through some drama with a woman.

Our son got orders - thank God! He is leaving next week for Washington. He will be on the USS Ohio. Anyone else's kids going there?

ok - so he's in proto - I get it now! When does he take his oral board or did he already?

He said he still has to do the board as soon as they tell him. There is what is confusing to us. What does proto mean for him?
He said just one of his roommates are left out if thee. They were paying almost $2,000 a month rent on a house. :-(

I was there. It went well, a bit chilly though. My son's roommate didn't graduate and still had to do his board. I don't know if it was your son though, as they rented an apartment and not a house.
