For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Challenge Coins

Would it be weird if I bought my son a challenge coin at PIR? Aren't they usually given by others in the Navy? I am wondering if it's like buying a high school letterman jacket for a kid that doesn't letter in something. That's something that my son said he would have never wanted if he didn't earn it.

I ordered one and gave it to him at graduation. He was really surprised and pleased to get it.

I bought mine 2 of them--one with his "ship name" from BC and one that had the courage, commitment saying. He is in A school now but he liked them as memories.

I got mine on ebay --search for PIR gifts--they had them by ship names as well as other types.If you google 'navy challenge coins' you will see other options too

No I don't think it's weird to but one for your sailor. I wonder though if it would be weird to give one for his ship and one for RTC since they are both in the same place?

We gave ours one from his bootcamp ship when he did PIR. Several parents did that Because there is no official coin for bootcamp.

Zoo Mom - PERFECT GIFT!!!!!! I read somewhere that challenge coins aren't given out in boot camp, which prompted me to buy one and give it to our so myself. We presented the coin to him at the airport while we were waiting around for his plane and I'll never forget the smile on his face!!! He loved it!!!!! Said it was "COOL!""" We purchased ours from Ebay.

We bought the one with the RTC design on one side and his ship on the other and gave it to him at dinner. He met a huge challenge face on and conquered it, recognize him! At the airport the next morning he asked if he had brought it with the rest of his stuff and then proceeded to show the other guys. With a huge grin on his face :)

Hi everyone! My son had PIR on 9/12/14. I did buy him an RTC challenge coin with his ship that also had Recruit Training Command inscribed on the front. I purchased this on eBay from the seller pirgifts. My daughter just shipped to RTC on 2/3 and I plan on getting her one as well.
