While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Looking for friends with recruits in processing

Anyone out there with kids still in processing? My son left Thursday, jan 28, but not have gotten into GTC until very early Friday. I can't tell where he would be in the process since he left later in the week than most.

I got the box on Wednesday as well. The sheet with his oath on it had a different number of years listed than his contract did, so I'm going crazy trying figure out what changed.

Zoo Mom, your recruit will not have PIR on 03/27/2015. Check your My Page.

I got his letter today. Oddly, his PIR is 4/20. I thought it was going to be one or two weeks after that. That explains why he got a call on Monday and they initially asked him to leave that same day. I'm completely in shock, and can't even bring myself to read the letter.

He shipped 1/28? Did you mean 3/20? My daughter shipped 2/3, I'm hoping she has PIR 3/27 which would be 9 Fridays. Fingers crossed!

Caroline, yes, she meant 3/20. Her recruit is in a Push Division. By counting 9 Fridays, your recruit will most likely have PIR on 04/03/2015, but since she arrived at the beginning of the week it is also possible that she will have PIR on 03/27/2015 if she fills a division from the week before and is in a Push Division. My son left on Feb 3rd and arrived on Feb 4th. Was wondering myself where my son is in the process. think he still might be in P days.

New Navy Moms, what a journey you have begun with your son/daughter. It is a time of tears and uncertainty but incredible growth for everyone. You child will probably want to come home AND you will want to be at the gates waiting. Especially when you haven't received a call in 2 to 3 weeks! The truth is "it sucks" but it is so worth it at PIR. We missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years - no call on any of the celebrated days in our house. I don't tell you this to make you feel bad or sorry for us - I tell you because we have been right where you are. The PIR Facebook page really helped. Buy your blue candle and light that flame daily, start making door decorations for your hotel room at PIR, network with other moms (strangers you will call Sea Sisters), and let yourself cry.

However, at the end of the longest 8 weeks of your life you will stand among others and celebrate the rising of the most massive garage door and see feet marching in the sunlight below. At that moment you will swell with joy as you know your Sailor - your son/daughter - is marching in. You will all have made it!!!

Hi my son is in bootcamphello right now. I miss him dearly, but I know this is what he wants and I'm sure when he gets out he'll be more of a young man and more responsible. Just be proud. Smile
