WOW!!! I can't believe this is really happening. My son ships out to GL Wed 3/11!!! He wasn't supposed to leave til May. Two weeks ago he got the call moving him up. I think I was cheated. These last 2 weeks have went by like 2 days. I will miss him terribly but the pride I have in him and respect for all these recruits will make it better!

Thinking of you. It's really hitting me hard today. Best wishes to you and your son!!!
Thank you. Just came home from the airport. HIs plane leaves at 4:36 P.M. Feeling so lonesome, but it will be okay.
I know how you feel. He is boarding the plane at this moment. I feel like I have a hole in my heart. Will be waiting for that call. He is going to call me when the flight lands. His recruiter told him to not rush off the plane and to use that time to call me.
You got this!!! WE got this!!! Does he have his own phone? Cuz Brandon texted and talked to me til he had to go to the USO and then a quick text to say bye as they got on bus.
He has his phone and will call when he lands. This way I don't have to worry about that scripted call, although I will be waiting for that too.
I know what you mean. He is texting and calling friends, family, etc. Which is okay, but I am not patient as well.
It will be ok. I totally understand. Now we take each day one at a time and get ready to get our "pen pal" on! LOL
How are you doing today? B gave me the "I'm here" call about 10pm last night. I totally feel that numbess today, Best wishes to you! These messages were for HulaMom and Navy Brat/mom :)
My son arrived from Ohio at GL Tuesday afternoon. When I got home from seeing him off at the airport (our whole family went, and hung out at the airport USO lounge -- which was AWESOME! -- he was the only one of four shipping out that had family there), I collapsed and slept for four hours straight. When I woke up, there was an empty feeling in my heart. I realized that's because he took part of my heart with him!
The scripted call was short and choppy, but he was able to give me our secret sign that we worked out to tell me all was REALLY fine.
I can't wait to get his address so we can start writing to him!
