My husband left for RTC on the 4th, and I just received his box of civilian items on the 9th. It held all of his clothes and his cellphone, and a few little things he had on him (a rubber bracelet from my honor society acceptance, a small thing of lotion, his deodorant, etc.) It did not have his wallet in it, so I am assuming he got to keep it (which is a relief because we sent money with him so he could buy phone cards) and it also did not have his wedding ring in it (the sailors at his recruiting office all had different opinions on whether or not he could keep it, so we didn't know what to expect). There was no paperwork in the box, as that comes later with the Form Letter. It was really cute to see his pants cuffed so they could measure his feet for shoes, and I loved getting to smell him again! OH! I found his plane ticket in his coat pocket. It's a really nice keepsake/scrapbooking item for those who are sentimental, which I totally am!

I just wanted to post this because I had seen a lot of questions about when the box would come and details on what it had in it.

Ah... do you think his dad unrolled the pants and folded everything??

My guy's pants were rolled but the pants were folded at the bottom of the box. Everything else was tossed on top. His tshirt, underwear and socks were balled up together ;).
I love reading these stories. My son just left on Wednesday the 11th. I'm dying to get the box, even though I know what it's going to contain. It's like a sign that he's gonna be ok. Thanks for sharing your stories ladies.

Sandiebear, check your My Page.

Thank you lemonelephant :)

You are very welcome.

Mine left on Wed too.  I'm sitting here wondering if Fedex would deliver today (sunday).

No Sunday deliveries.

I thought that may have been the case, but I asked my daughter and she said her dad opened the box, lifted the navy backpack out, glanced underneath, then put the navy backpack back on top and folded it closed. Then he put it in the garage. ??? good Lord. ...and to think he was putting up such a fight for me to have the box here with me, with everything our son owns, in his room at my house. ??

Oh boy. I can totally relate to this.

I'm glad you have his things and noticed you have his PIR date too! I'm a week behind with my son so I'm going to be patient... for exactly one more week.

:)
