My boy leaves in just a few short days. He's not a boy, of course, he's a grown man setting off to a wonderful adventure and future.  But when I see him, even though he towers over me, he's still that little fella playing Legos.  I am proud as can be of this young man!  I wish the mom-tears would go away, I want him to see the admiration & pride, not these silly tears.  Farewell Party is tomorrow and then the final countdown!

Anyone else have theirs heading out next week?

SR waiting at hotel, leavin in morning to MEPS. A very emotional day for us all. Now the countdown begins. We are so proud and full of love right now.

Mine too! He was doing great and seemed ready. Proud and full of love covers it!!

I will see him swear in at MEPS tomorrow and then boom, he's on his way!  I love my sweet SR so much!

Hi!  My son also left for boot camp Mar.17th, 2015.  Poor kid is heading to GL all the way from Japan where his father is stationed and where we live.  He will be a big jet-lagged and that makes me worry about him.  But I'm sure he will be ok.  Moms always worry too much, right?  Sure am gonna miss him, but knowing he's happy and excited makes the separation a bit easier.  :)

Hi Sunshinemom! I am sure that you are concerned about him being that far from home!!  That flight from Japan is a booger- I am glad to know that he left in good spirits, though , it makes it easier for us to see them go when they are happy!

I hope you get your I'm here call soon !  That will ease your worries and we can all keep each other up to date on here :)

Well, since we have no stateside phone number, we use Magic Jack and with that you have to have wi-fi access.  I was driving when my cell phone rang and when I looked at the screen it was the Magic Jack and I knew it had to be my son calling.   It immediately disconnected due to lack of wi-fi.  I was SO SAD!  He apparently was able to leave a message, though.  So I listened to it over and over and over and just cried.  I felt so horrible that he had to leave a message instead of being able to hear his mom's voice.  :(

That makes me cry for you!  Most of us cannot comprehend the extra obstacles you have when living overseas.  He will be so ready & excited to talk with you in a few weeks!!  Thank goodness he was able to leave you a message you can replay when you need a boost. We are all here for each other, and once the address comes, one of us can easily print a note from you and mail it so he gets something from you asap!!!!!  I would be so happy to do that for y'all!

Thank you, Aimee and Wine!  That is sweet of you!  :)

I'm glad he was able to leave a message, but I'm sorry you missed the call. He MAY (no guarantees) get to make a make up call sometime in the next few days since he didn't actually reach a person. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

I'm so sorry sunshinemom. I'm glad he was able to leave a message. Hopefully he will be able to call again. My son left on the 18th. They are probably all together. Let me know if there is anything we can do since we are in the states. We are all in this together! Best of luck and keep us posted. Haven't heard anything yet except for his "I'm here" call. God, I miss him!

Sunshinesmom, Oh goodness, I am sure he will be Jet Lagged.  I hope he was able to rest some on the plane. Keep in contact with us.  We are all in this together.

I will definitely keep in contact with you guys!  It helps to know that I can talk to other moms going through the same thing.  :)

Has anyone heard where there sons were placed yet?
