My boy leaves in just a few short days. He's not a boy, of course, he's a grown man setting off to a wonderful adventure and future.  But when I see him, even though he towers over me, he's still that little fella playing Legos.  I am proud as can be of this young man!  I wish the mom-tears would go away, I want him to see the admiration & pride, not these silly tears.  Farewell Party is tomorrow and then the final countdown!

Anyone else have theirs heading out next week?

That is awesome!!  I bet your emotions were going from happy to crying in an instant- thank goodness we get to have that reminder come home.

She is an awesome woman to choose to persue a military career!

I have a daughter in the Air Force, she has really been able to accomplish a lot in the past few years. I was sooooo afraid and unsure about her enlisting- but she is kicking bootie. She was the one nudging my son to enlist, because with a bit of determination, the opportunities are so great.

What will Brittanys job be?

My boy left March 17th as well.  I had to chuckle at your lego remark, it put at smile on my face.  My boy had LOTs of hotwheels/matchbox cars LOL.  I hope you are hanging in there.

I just got the address for where my boyfriend is staying I am attempting to address my letter but it's so much to write !

It's not that much to write. It is only one additional line (Ship XXX, Div XXX) than is in a typical address.

Did you get it from his parents who received The Form Letter or did you or they get it from the recruiter? Wait on The Form Letter before sending letters.

See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

Hey TaylorMarie! I so totally hope that you received the form letter with his address..... cause if you did, that means we will all be getting them soon!!!!

I have been writing notes to my son and stacking them up for addressing.  I'm sure it's been a rough week for you- hang in there- it gets easier as time goes by!

Thanks Aimee, I have not recieved the form letter although his recruiter had emailed his mother the information and she sent it to me ! I am waiting to send them out until I receive the form letter though.

Today has been so rough, i cant stop crying I miss my other half :( I keep telling myself that it will go by fast. I think once we get the info on his PIR date i will feel so much better and can start a countdown.

You are right, once we know some firm details it will help tremendously. It's gotta be hard to have that empty space at home- but you will learn new things about yourself and your strengths!  I'm trying to distract myself with scrapbooks and reorganizing photos and stuff- idk, it's allowing me to do something positive with my emotions.   I saw a wife with a blog and a mom with one today- everyone deals with stuff differently, you will find what works for you and it will help!!

taylorxxmarie, check your My Page.

Hi Aimee...I feel the same way. But my son knows I am a big ball of emotion. Looks like we will be crying at the same PIR at the same time. My son left on the 16th. Have you gotten Your call yet?

Yep- we will be crying and sniffling at the same PIR! I did get my call Tuesday night. I was so happy to hear him. Just waiting on his box of treasures, lol!
How are you doing now that a few days have passed??

I'm a little better. My 2 year old keeps asking me and my husband for her "brudah" so that makes me a little sad. But he made her two videos for her. She "talks" with him at least 4 times a day. That makes me a little sad because I miss him too. But Happy because I know he is doing What he planned to do for himself. He is my oldest child for me as well as the FIRST grandchild, nephew and son for my ENTIRE family. It helps to know that I have their support. But now that I know I have about a thousand other mom's that feel the same way I do, I'm not as bad and know that I am in great company.
Im waiting on his box too. I know every article of clothing he had on his back and every item he took with hi. I'm looking Foward to coMing home and it be there.
I'm already planning to buy a phone card with more than enough minutes to share with his "new" brothers and sisters. just really want to be as supportive as I can for our sailors.
Shoot, here comes the tears. It's hard not to cry when you have absolutely NO IDEA What they are going through at this very moment...SMH

That's so sweet your daughter is looking for her brother, awww!

It's quite a ride, it is really weird to have no clue what they are doing. I have watched a few YouTube videos about basic, so in my head, that's what's happening, baldheaded school work-lol :)
