My boy leaves in just a few short days. He's not a boy, of course, he's a grown man setting off to a wonderful adventure and future. But when I see him, even though he towers over me, he's still that little fella playing Legos. I am proud as can be of this young man! I wish the mom-tears would go away, I want him to see the admiration & pride, not these silly tears. Farewell Party is tomorrow and then the final countdown!
Anyone else have theirs heading out next week?

marykate, there was no holiday routine this week. The first one will be next Sunday. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
Hello Navywife1220! Looks like your man is in the same PIR with us!
I am sorry that you are having such a rough time- but you are right, keeping busy is the very best thing you can do. I think the time will go by quickly and it will be a great reunion!!!! Yay!
From what I've read, we should get the form letter next week, and that will confirm the graduation date. The 9Fridays count puts it at May 15, but we cannot assume ANYTHING with the military, lol- it is best to hang on for the official word.
The Boot camp Moms and loved ones group has tons of info, be sure you join that group- it lets you know when others are getting letters and calls, and when to keep an eye out for stuff.
I'm glad you are with us on this journey, we can keep one another smiling til we hit the finish line!!
NavyWife1220,
BCT (Army) = BC (Navy)
AIT (Army) = "A" School (Navy)
By counting 9 weeks, PIR will most likely be 05/18/2015, but it could be the week before (possible, but not as likely for one arriving on a Wednesday) or the week after (possible, but not as likely this time of the year as at other times). You'll just have to wait on The Form Letter to know for sure.
Counting Fridays may be easier on you than counting days.
You will be receiving "the box" soon if you haven't already. The Form Letter arrives an average of 10 days after the recruit arrived at the RTC. The first "real" letter will arrive sometime after the second Sunday (third Sunday for some). Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.
The Page, When Will the Recruits be Paid? and Information for Spouses, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) has important information for you.
The Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), may help you with the new terms.
I got the box ! I came home from work thinking it should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. My husband showed me the notice from FEDEX that we missed it. We went downstairs to exercise and I saw the truck out the window. I almost fell off the treadmill I ran so fast. I have never been so happy to see his smelly socks.
Lol! I can totally see the visual of falling off the treadmill trying to get to the door!
Hooray!!!! It is so nice to get a glimpse of them!!!
I received the kids BOX today too. I think I frightened the FedEx guy with my wake up hair and pjs as I threw open the door- I could hear him laughing as he walked away. Lol.
So glad it came.
I also got the box today!!! It seems kind of crazy to get so excited over a box of dirty clothes - it almost felt like Christmas! Now just waiting for the letter. Have you received the letter yet?
Hooray!!!
No letter yet- I imagine it will be later on in the week?
I betcha it comes tomorrow!! I was so tickled to see that handwriting, and grateful there were no stinky socks- lol.
I didn't see it! I will look.....
I'm dying to hear the run down from the kids perspective- lol.
At least being on here we are learning what questions to ask!!
Hi! Did you receive the box? I just got it today! We are both TX mom's too :)
