Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 810

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

SR's girlfriend got a letter today but she's not home until tomorrow so can't read it. She thought her mom was playing a joke with her. Where is my mailman???

Happy Saturday ladies. I haven't fallen off the earth! LOL keeping my grandson for the weekend. Really helps to keep me occupied! He's 17mths! No contact for me yet, hoping for today of course. Jaybird, I see the FB link was posted for you already. So sorry to leave you hanging.

17mos.. you are very occupied!! I have a gnarly case of tennis elbow and my left arm is useless. It hurts when I move it and hurts when I try to grip anything (I received cortisone shot Friday and oouch). I am somewhat stuck at home since it hurts to turn the steering wheel.

You did not leave me hanging in the least bit. Now I am patiently waiting to be accepted to the group. I am hoping to receive a letter today. I am happy just hearing from his dad and girlfriend about his journey. I know mine will come anytime now.. Once again patience is extremely overrated.

Well ladies I booked my hotel.. Now it is time to work on flight and rental car.

I got my 1st letter! Woot woot! He sounded good, had 2 wisdom teeth "yanked with only numbing." Said to send stuff to "entertain him." He has room in his footlocker. Short note but I'm still incredibly happy!

YAY I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I received my first letter as well. It is funny you mentioned our son having his teeth pulled. My son is the dental Yeoman and is in charge of all paperwork and appointments for those needing dental work. LOL! He also has another leadership role which is cool to hear. He said the food isn't that bad/he eats plenty and he is tired and ready for bed by the end of the day. He is very unhappy with the lack of physical exercise they do. He does seem to be making friends and says the division is very small..  He mentioned they can only mail letters on Sundays but can receive them Mon - Friday. He said to feel free to write him as much as I want -- I am sure that was a hint!!

Just a caution...not sure why he would ask for stuff to "entertain him".

Recruits are not allowed care packages from home.

Here are the guidelines from the RTC FB Notes Section under FAQ's:

WHAT CAN I SEND OR NOT SEND MY RECRUIT:

Recruits are allowed to receive letters, cards, photos, stationery, envelopes and stamps. You should first ask your recruit if he/she is allowed to receive any newsaper/magazine articles as it is up to each division's Recruit Division Commanders (RDCs) if they may or may not receive those. Sending cards in colored envelopes is fine. Sending musical cards is strongly discouraged as your recruit may not appreciate having to open such a card in the presence of his/her shipmates where everyone can hear it. Do NOT send any type of glitter in cards or letters to your recruit. Please keep in mind they are in military training and do get frequent inspections and any glitter found in their racks (bunks) will cause them to receive a negative mark. Keep your letters/cards simple. Recruits may receive one pair of contacts and one week's worth of solution to wear for photos and/or graduation. Female recruits are permitted to receive minimal makeup items to wear for photos and/or graduation. Recruits may NOT receive any other type of care packages or food items. All food items are discarded.

Finally got my SR's letter! He sounds like a changed man which is what I have been praying for. He is so appreciative of us and misses us like crazy. Doesn't sound like much going on the first two weeks except shots, dental, medical, etc.

As of 3/22 he had not received any of our letters. He asked us to write which breaks my heart because ive snet a letter almost every day I hope he received the 20+ letters I know family has been sending. It will make him feel good to hear from us.

Kristal, I got another letter yesterday.  This letter was dated the 24th and he says he had just started receiving all of our letters.  So hopefully, by now, your son has consolation that you have been writing.

On the PIR fb page for 5/1, I am seeing several mothers posting that they are getting calls right now from their SR.  Hopefully, our is coming soon.  Not seeing any posts from mothers in our guys div.

I saw 809 have been given phone calls. Someone even had a 40 min call. They would have had 50 mins but someone in the group made a mistake and the division lost 10 mins of their time. Uugh. I can't wait to say hello to my guy and hear his voice! I am use to not seeing him, he has been on his own and not lived at hom e for a few years. I am not use to not talking to him.. We have always communicated frequently! ! Uugh I do miss my lil guy

Good Morning Ladies!  Trying to put on a smile cuz I did get at least a short letter.  But I REALLY wanted a phone call yesterday!!! Thank goodness for taking care of my grandson this weekend or I'm pretty sure I would have went totally crazy.  Soo glad that all of us (unless I missed "counted") have at least gotten a letter!  Week 3 for all of us, that call is coming!!!

Good morning! I was thrilled to get the letter on Saturday but so need to hear his voice. I am usually very strong but broke down when I read his letter and have sporadically busted into tears for the past two days. Ugh!!! I don't know who needs the call more...me or him.
