Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Good morning all! It's been two weeks since my SR left. I have his box and his form letter, so I am feeling pretty happy, which is a far cry from how I felt two weeks ago. I am so thankful that I have had all of you to help get through the past few weeks. So thank you, thank you, thank you!
Last week I was feeling pretty mopey and was worrying about the same things all of you are worrying about..Is he sleeping? eating? Is he warn out? Is he cold? All of this while sitting at my comfortable table, sipping coffee...That is when I came up with an idea. I decided to get off my rear and spend this "bootcamp" time doing my own bootcamp.
It has been only a week, but I can honestly say that it has been nice to have something to center some of that "feel sorry for myself" energy on. Which leads me to...........
I HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR YOU...THE BOOTCAMP MOM CHALLENGE.
So if you are interested this is my thought. Find something that is tough for you whether it be something mentally or physically challenging. It doesn't matter what it is...maybe working out, changing eating habits, cleaning the garage, less smoking, drinking more water. Find something that you can throw yourself into for the weeks ahead while you are waiting for PIR. You are welcome to share it, or keep it to yourself.
Here are the Pro's...It keeps your mind occupied, you are challenging yourself, you have something to write about to your SR, you have something you can share with your SR when you see him/her.
Now for the CONS....Ummmm, I can't think of any.
So think about it...How about you come and join me on this journey...
BTW...My challenge is to drink a gallon of water a day, and I have a Cardio, weightlifting plan that is mapped all the way out until I leave for PIR.

Hello trailhiker, my son has PIR 5/8 & will be going nuke as well- it's going to be here before we know it! Yay!

Amy3boys: Love this idea!!!! Our son is way past boot camp and stationed overseas for the first time. It's not always easy to communicate, so I, too, have started a morning routine to keep me from falling off the deep end. If he can get up at 5:00 a.m. or earlier each day, then I can do the same. My sacrifice is miniscule compared to what he's been doing. Your PIR will be here before you know it!!
Hope you will join us Froggy. You are right, our SR's are making way bigger sacrifices than we ever will but at least they will know we are there in spirit.

Hope you are having a fantastic day and that your challenge is going well. I am so thankful that I have you all to challenge and support me through this journey. Boy, you guys were super helpful for me this am. I woke up tired and sore from my weight workout last night...All I wanted to do was sit at the table, drink coffee and play on Pinterest. But remembering that I had made a commitment to myself, my SR and all of you, I managed to drag myself to the treadmill and got 30 mins in. I felt a little sluggish today but I got through it.
Last night I appointed my sweet husband as my drill sgt/trainer. Now if you knew my husband, you would understand that he is probably the nicest man in the world. Mr Amy3boys was like, "doing great, WE can do this, you are awesome". As sweet as he is I am pretty sure I shot him a dirty look from time to time. Luckily he still loves me this am, so all is good. I did come to the realization that I haven't darkened our makeshift workout room in awhile which was prevalent when I was attempting to lift the weight bar with my husband spotting me. My very protective schnauzer thought I was being injured or dying because she came out of nowhere barking, and growled at my husband and then proceeded to jump right smack in the middle of my gut. (maybe I should have her be my Drill Sgt...didn't realize she could be so rough)..We all lived through it and it made for a comical evening.
Let me know how you are doing. Oh, I do have a question. Would you guys rather set up a private blog to do this (since I now realize we can have n4m blog) or do you like mainstream? Feedback please....
Well I hope today that you are able to address your challenges...What fun stories we will have for our SR's. Remember, they are as proud of us as we are of them...
I'm wicked sore today! Last night I did Week 2 Day 1 of the 4-week program I'm doing: 4 Week Booty Boot Camp: Butt and Thigh Program
I'm feeling good! Sleeping better than when he first left. Mostly my hamstrings are just killing me; they're so tight no matter how much I stretch. Any recommendations are welcome! Thinking about treating myself to a sports massage in a couple weeks.

That is awesome sailormaid. My husband reminds me how great "that sore" is...right now I am just sore so it doesn't feel very great. I will have to check out your link. I am doing one of the Bodybuilding.com plans. I will have to post the link as well.
You most certainly should treat yourself to a sports massage! Are you eating any proteins after you workout? That will help tremendously with the soreness if you eat or drink something with protein post workout.

Yep, protein/banana/fiber/flax seed shake twice a day: once in the morning and once after my workout. (I can NOT drag myself out of bed to work out in the morning so I've been doing it at night.) I put greek yogurt in my morning shake, too. So much protein! :) :)
